want info on sounds system

i would like to upgrade my stereo, bigger, cleaner sounds but don't to lose the 5.1 and no interference to the HF controller. leaning toward jl amp, and boston components. and help would be great.

you can do it in this order:
STOCK HU -> STOCK AMP -> HIGH INPUT AMP -> SPEAKERS

if your amp does not have a high input:

STOCK HU -> STOCK AMP -> LOC -> AMP -> SPEAKERS

If you want the best system, you will need an audio processor:

STOCK HU -> STOCK AMP -> AUDIO PROCESSOR (3.SIXTY.2) -> AMP -> SPEAKERS

With all 3 of these ways, you retain the HFL, navi and all other functions of the car.

i look up your suggestion, and the Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY.2 is $600 from Crutchfield. and is the JL slash v2 300/4v2 is $529 4 channel. for the front i was thingking of JL VR600--$299, back speakers not sure, for the sub i would like to keep the oem or something that would fit in the original hole cause i don't want to lose trunk space. is this right? want nice sound but don't necessary shake the car next to me at a red light. oh is the price about right or could i get it cheaper.

Try eBay and the used sections on car audio forums!

Why do you need to keep the stock amp? Why not just take the speaker wires from the stock hu and put them directly into the audio processor?

Voltage is too low... and you'll have to set the gains on the amplifiers too high in order to get decent output... plus run the risk of amplifing any noise in your sstem...

While you are right RodneyC77, with the voltage to low and havn to up the gains on the amp is true, you can use a pre-amp to boost the voltage before it goes to the amp and eliminate the unwanted noise from overdriving the amplifiers at max gain. Audio Control makes some nice ones.

Yes that is true (I think they are called Line Drivers), but the problem with that is that the HFL mute and other wires are contained in the stock amp to my knowledge. Also by adding that Line driver, you open more potential to having audio interference from the power cables that run in the car.

So what is the best way? Use a signal processor after the stock amp? How do you know which wires to hook up, which ones are low and high? Or are they all the same level output? Are there any cheap signal processors?

No problems with any of the components in the car HFL, Navi etc... everything is controlled via the RADIO...

audio controls units are LOC's as well so u have to use the stock amp in order to process the sound correctly. Audio control also makes signal processors but i wouldnt use them unless i was dropping 20k into the system.....at which point u wouldnt need that because you wouldnt have a stock headunit anymore

david navone....davidnavone.com and audiocontrol LC6 are the models I use in most cars. the audio control unit is my favorite because after converting the lines you can add an EQ, an epicenter or crossover to further clarify the sound at a ridiculous level.

When I was using LOC's I also used the David Navone units... very good...

As of now... I'm using a Rockford 3Sixty.2 and my system sounds really good...

Tripnbeats... when you said process the sound via the stock amp... you mean equalize correct??? because I've tapped into the wires prior to the amp and it was FLAT, but it didn't have enuff power (voltage) to push my amps after the 3Sixty... 'Cause I used the 3sixty to Equalize my system the way I wanted it.

FYI...
I tested the New MTX Re-Q5 yesterday in a friends '05 TL and it works great.... except that you have to live with factory EQ settings unless you add an aftermarket EQ... Cost is right too...

yup thats what I was implying. it takes signals (voltage) from the radio and boosts its gain and frequencies and then spits it out as wattage.....then we take it, boost it again and make it even louder....lmao.
