vx8100 and HFL

Anyone know if the vx8100 will be compatable with our HFL?

I believe the release date on this phone is today, can anyone confirm?

Anyone get this phone? please post your experience using HFL with this phone.

I would like to use the HFL but did not have many choices. Right now there is the v710, which I tried and returned, the new e815, which I might go check out, and this phone.

Please comment.

Stores have the phone in stock but can't sell it until "Verizon provides a release date."

They're guessing later this week (July 15?) but no official word.

I think it is only partially supported just like the Motorola V710 when it first came out.

i saw it in circuit city today, I didn't like the outside colors it makes it look like a kids phone. But it does have the EZ tip calculator that I loved on my lg6000 and the e815 doesn't have. I'm tempted to return my phone just for that. It makes splitting the checks so easy after a night of eating and drinking.

well i traded in my e815 for the 8100. It doesn't show signal or battery like the 815 did. and I think reception is a tad worse on the 8100.

edit-does anybody have bluetooth problems? with both phones I can only talk for 3 secs before I lose bluetooth connection and I have to use the phone. So it isn't a phone problem is a car problem. I tried with the phone sitting in my pocket, cup holder, seat, clipped to sun visor, but I always loose connection when I call or receive.

I have had the 8100 for a week and no problems with dropped calls. Works well, and I'm happy with the phone.

I just got the 8100. I can make calls, but incoming calls can only be answered on the handset. I must have something set up wrong on the phone. Any suggestions????

Also, no signal bars or battery strength on display. I assume this will eventually be worked out, like the Motorola 710.

Thumbs up 8100 With New Firmware

I have the 8100. At first minimal compatibility with HFL (Like 710). After the new firmware (V04) was put on it, it has FULL compatibility (Signal, Battery, Caller ID). Never had a dropped call.

Oh and also...the camera is fixed and you can turn the god damn disco lights off!

Yes, you have to take it in to a Verizon store for them to upgrade the firmware to v04. It also activates the MP3 player with the front play buttons which is quite cool. I had bought a 256 mb mini sd card and just bought another 512 mb card on sale at compusa for 27 bucks. I won't need to buy an ipod now (sure I can't load all my songs in it but it the two cards will give me plenty for a workout or a walk)
Plus the stereo earbuds I bought from Verizon also has a mike and a button on the cord to answer the phone.

Sound Quality

How are you guys finding the sound quality to be for the HFL and 8100? I am getting mixed reviews from the wife and friends...thinking about getting the Motorola Head Piece, but then again...the bluetooth was a major selling point to me on the TL.

Is there anyway to adjust the "mic" for the hfl, the biggest complaint is people can't hear me.

PS: My buddy paired the E815 and the quality seemed worse.

Call waiting on the phone itself works fine for me. Just press send in the middle of a conversation. Haven't tried it through the HFL though and am not sure if it is supported.

thats what I meant, my bad. yeah during a call the manual says to hit the answer button on the wheel but that doesnt seem to work. I guess I could just hit the send button on the phone myself...
