Center speaker?
Center speaker?
This is probably a pretty dumb question. But just to make sure, the center speaker if you are NOT using 5.1 sound isn't used right? Basically that is just for the NAVI and if you are using a 5.1 DVD-A disk...? Just trying to figure out an aftermarket solution here, and i don't really want to touch the center speaker and leave it connected to the stock amp.
Then hopefully use a 5.1 amp and route that to the speakers and sub...
thanks

I think there may be a very slight "mix" to the center channel speaker when 2 channel content is being played. Certainly nothing like when a 5.1 source is being played. I don't think you would miss it but you would miss it for 5.1 stuff. But, even with the center a +6db you may not be able to get it balanced with the other channels since you will have added more power to them. Perhaps a lower wattage mono or bridged amp just for the center should be considered. If you don't care about 5.1 then you probably can just leave it alone.
As far as the speaker impedance goes just make sure whatever amps you get are rated for 2 ohm use. I think many aftermarket amps are OK for 2ohm but you should double check.

thanks for the reply! Basically i'm just considering this for my mp3 player and cd's. I'm not going to be using too much of the DVD-A feature, so i figured i'd just leave the center speaker alone.
