Volume goes UP before DOWN when using the DOWN steering wheel control?

Has anyone else noticed this? On my 05 if I'm driving down the street and hit the down button on the steering wheel to decrease volume, it often goes UP about 3-4 notches, and then down from there.

Really strange. No biggie, but it's annoying sometimes...

This has never happened to me (05 TL). You should get it checked. Actually, IMO, it is a biggie.

sounds like a bad contact. get the set of buttons replaced or adjusted so it makes proper contact

This recently started happing with my 04. It seems random, but definitely annoying. I'll press the down volume button on the steering wheel and the volume goes up instead. Seems like a short of some kind.

I'm going to bring it to the dealer for them to look at.

since those 5 buttons for the radio use 1 wire, i'm guessing the resistor crapped out. basically each button uses a different resistance to send the signal through a single wire

My `03 did this the other day, pressing volume down made the volume go up, then down, then the radio station changed ??

Hasn't happened since, and this was the first day it happened, that I've noticed anyways ... my bumper->bumper warranty expired 2 months ago ... doh

This happened to my '03 today. Warranty just expired in July. Volume down = up. Up = track change. Disassembled volume control and cleaned contacts. Up, down, and track buttons generated different resistances. Unfortunately, problem persisted after re-installing control module. Radio control knob works fine. Now I'm not sure whether something in the steering wheel as other threads indicated. Dealer wants $100 to inspect, $30+ for control module.
