Viper SmartStart VSS4000 install!

to start off, these units are not only available at best buy and best buy is a rip off. they charged me 300 for the vss3000 which is the smart start without a remote meaning only the iphone can be used and had the vss4000 which is the unit with a spare remote for 400. i found the vss4000 on amazon for 300 and will be installing it tomorrow when it arrives and returning the 3000 model since i no longer need it and didnt start the install yet. You will require a bypass module though because of our key immobilizer. That was 100 at best buy and im returning it becuase i got it on amazon for 30!
On a side note the mobile installation department was a bunch of assholes when i asked them about it and basically just insulted me and told me i wont be able to install it. They obviously have no faith in the DIYers over at acurazine.
I'm absolutely going to take pics and post a guide. Ill let you know how it works out

Search for the DIY. Thats what i used and installed my 5901. Dont know what alarm comes with your vss400 but you can cross-reference them to the 5901

vss4000 doesnt come with an alarm but im integrating it into the factory alarm. Sorry for the delay but i will not be able to start this till monday or tuesday when Park Ave Acura gives my car back. Someone cut my brake line on my left front wheel and my wheel sensors on both front wheels. Went to pull out of the driveway and had to pull my e brake. Acura sent a tow truck over and said they gotta order parts and it should be done the beginning of next week

yea i guess so. When i filed the police report, the officer who collected the report went into the office clearly thinking the door is sound proof. He started making comments about me and about how hes not going to do anything. I'm friends with the chief in my town also so i gave him a ring and internal affairs is going to be paying this officer a visit

WTF...cut brake lines? That's a pretty serious thing to do to someone...might as well put a gun to your head.

With your brake line being cut, and since you'll be messing with the wiring anyway, it would be a good time to add an alarm imo... if the budget can accomodate it, of course. Glad that you weren't injured or anything.

That 5901 guide has had me hovering over the "Add to Cart" button on amazon on more than one occasion... would love remote start, get the AC going early with this damn summer heat.

Anyway, good luck with your install. It's so much more satisfying to not only save the money by doing it yourself, but know that it's done right (not singling out Best Buy's install department specifically, but unless you install something yourself or know the installer well you take the chance of half-assed work being done).

i eneded up getting it installed elsewhere, which i didnt really wanna do but i started the install and it seemed like it was gonna take awhile which i couldnt manage while starting school so im gonna do the rest myself. Ive got an MS-8 from someone off ebay for 395 im about to pay for and a real nice center speaker to put in. Also so el wire with sound controlled inverter and replacement angel eye inverters. i think im gonna try to find a way to wrap the wire around my speakers grilles where the silver bezel is. The thickest they had was 5mm so i got some of that and ill see how thick it is when it arrives
