Specs on your system?

Also just an option ... but maybe you should take one of swoosh's initial advice and turn down the bass/volume hahhaha

i was about to post this, i did dynamat my trunk and still rattle like is going to brake. i had a type r on a cheap box but today i switch to a custom box tune to 30hz, giving it 600rms. Any doubs i had that my system was not good enough was gone. Now is more than enough i love the clean clean bass but the trunk now rather way to hard even with dynamat. what can we do to fix the trunk rattle.

do you have a wing spoiler or a trunk lip ? i know the trunk spoiler has a knack of rattling....

also the rear aspec will rattle too....plus the spare tire + accessories will rattle.....try taking everything out of ur trunk and then try it....

Several things I'm sure is happening. One the back dashboard cover (where your oem sub was located) is likely vibrating and hitting your back window and or other things. Dynamat that entire area and make sure it's secured. Find insulators if you have to to keep it from vibrating so it is firm when it's latched. Try to find areas where it might be vibrating againts another surface causing it to make more noise than it should. The other would be that plastic piece where your license plate mounts to. Find a way to keep it from rattling againts the metal surface of your truck cover. Then if you haven't done it yet make sure to dynamat as much of your interior surface as much as possible. Another thing to is to place a dynamat piece to the whole entire back surface of your license plate before mounting it on. If you don't have dynamat in hand, use the heavy duty (ussualy red) double side tape from home depot or hardware store as a temporary fix to keep your license plate from rattling. You might have a good system and it might sound good inside but it's really annoying and sounds super cheap if your shit rattles so much from the outside.

Glad to see the new box worked out for you.

Now, I know a way to stop the rattles. This is for the OP and eduardo....
Build a a mini dream box ( bandpass) that ports into the arm rest of the back seat.
not only will you get amazing bass, but it will stop all rattles as it sits over the axles and not in the trunk itself. Plus all the sound is ported into the cabin.

thanx for you advice about geting a custom box, i used audio classified now i have a custom ported box tuned 30hz for the type r, it fits perfect and it sound 10x better, i already had what amp and sub i was about to get but now the type R sound so clean and so loud which is more than enough. i heard a custom banpass for 2 kicker and was no trunk rattle what so ever. Now i'm afraid of going bandpass and loosing my ported clean SPL SQ sound.

any thought on this?

ported boxes = SPL
Sealed boxes = SQ

what do you get when you put them together?
Bandpass = SPL and SQ.

Here is more info and build threads on the bandpass box made for the TL.
I'm currently buidling a mini dream box. well, my sub is a little bigger than Triodesigns but smaller than CSW's. it will be a "medium Dream box"

One of the most significant causes of rattles is the hard plastic of the rear deck lid vibrating against the rear deck metal. I used felt where ever the hard plastic contacted the metal deck. This was very effective.

I have two 12' alpine type R's in my trunk and when I first had it in these were the rattling problems that I found .

1. As "PowerCommander" mentioned the Backdash was vibrating and hitting the back windshield . I have yet to actually go back there and find a solution . But i just threw my book back behind one of the back headrests and that has worked for me as a Temporary solution as of now.

2. I had a Trunk deck lid , took off . HELPED A LOT !

3. Now , I took out the liner of the trunk (only on the part that goes up) Took out the dead weight that holds the trunk down . So now when I pop my trunk it Goes straight up and you can see my subs when I try to show off . But , One thing that I noticed that rattles in my car is the licenses plate lights . In that area there are a couple of plastic peices that shake like a mother once I have my subbs turned up .

4. As mentioned above , I added all four screws to my license plate. And removed the ' Karen radly cover from the dealership ' Cover.l

I have an 05 TL A-Spec, and i put 2 12' MTX jackhammer subs in, my trunk was doing the same thing.

all i did was line the whole car with Fatmat, and adjusted the trunk latch, now it sounds great.

oh and i know you guys are going to ask what Fatmat is, well fatmat is like dynamat but 10 times better and 100 times cheaper.

if anyone wants to see pics let me know

well i got rid of the license plate vibration and ithink i found the solution to getting rid of alot of trunk vibration. This will not stop it but minimize it.

Go to lowes and get "peel and seal" is very cheap. $15 for a 9" x 25 ft. on the trunk remove the liner and cover and sealed the entire upper trunk. the license plate vibration is coming from the bass hitting behind the license plate holder.

Try to put many layers of peel and seel and your trunk rattle will "almost" gone i get no more license plate vibration anymore.

There's a weight on the underside of the trunklid. If you remove the carpet you will see it. Remove two bolts and it's out.
