Verizon Audiovox 6600 now works with HFL

Audiovox has released a ROM upgrade for the XV.6600. I loaded it and tested it with the HFL tonight. Everything worked perfectly, except no battery or signal strength. Another Bluetooth phone from Verizon that works with HFL

What procedure did you take to pair? I tried and failed!

I followed the normal procedure. I made sure that the 6600 was ready to search for a device then started the process on the TL. When the TL was searching for a phone I started the pairing for a hands free device on the 6000. Make sure you tell it to look for all devices. It will then find the HFL system and ask you to input the code on the 6600. Should be pair after that.

sclevan,

I know what to do on the TL side, on the 6600 I assume you use the Bluetooth Manager and tap New. Then the wizard produces several choices. The most obvious would be Hands-free/Headset setup. Is that what you used?

On your TL are you answering and calling through the HFL using the TL's audio system?

Sorry for my ignorance but I am going crazy trying to get this to work.

Thanks in advance.

how do you guys like this phone?

i am currently carrying a work provided t-mobile based balckberry that i use for email and an older lg for my actual phone. i am looking to move to a verizon based pda/phone with bluetooth (was leaning towards the treo 650 until i found out they may never actually release it). the audivox is a little strange looking and pretty $$$, how has your experience been so far? is it a better phone than pda, vice-versa? the battery life appears to be low as well.

Outside of some issues with Bluetooth, I am really happy with the phone and service. I live in Bucks County, PA and receive EVDO for data around here. If I'm not in an area that provides EVDO, I still get the older service which is adequate. In fact, I have read it is still faster than the new GSM service. Phone service is very good and the PDA provides Win 2003 Second Edition with a decent processor. I added Garmin's GPS 10 (Bluetooth) for navigation and it works great.

I have an unlimited data plan and my phone is setup to get email automatically every 10 minutes. Unfortunately, that drains the battery to where I last about a day on one charge. You may want to checkout another forum pdaphonehome.com. Under PPC6600/PPC6601/XV6600 you can come up with your own impression.

I will say some folks rant and rave there and they are correct. However, the fact is none of the PDA phones are perfect (including Treo 650). For email I can tell you I use to have a Treo 280 via T-Mobile and the email service from Verizon is great while when I was with T-Mo it was unacceptable (i.e. I sometimes received emails 2, 3 or more days after they were sent). With Verizon, it comes as fast as my hardwired office broadband.

In my opinion, the phone and Verizon service charges are big $$$. But for what I receive it's worth it to me.

gldman,

No, parts of Acura/Audiovox Bluetooth work but not to any acceptable standards for me. I will wait for next ROM upgrade. Last week Audiovox tech. told me they would have another Bluetooth upgrade by the end of the month that is specifically for car Bluetooth compatibility (including Acura). The current available upgrade for the most part addressed headsets and other phone issues.

I have no problems with the Bluetooth and the GPS I listed above.

Walti,

Y es, I'm able to dial out from the HFL audio system. I installed another patch "3900" from pdaphonehome.com and that made everything work perfect. I think this hacked patch has the updated profile for the HFL system that allows it to work. Check out that site and go to the 6600 forum. The patch is available there for douwnload.
