Any ideas how to modify the AUX outlet in the center console to connect a USB adapter in the 2007 TL ?

i think he is wanting to modify the aux jack to be able to plug a USB into it to play music through the radio.... Which isnt gonna happen.

the only option is to find something like an iSimple that has a usb jack for it. Other then that its not possible.

The cig lighter outlet I believe is just for powering and nothing to do with the audio.

Garrett > what is this iSimple you mentioned?
Thx

iSimple is a gateway for ipods and iphones to play audio through the stock head unit and your able to see the text on the display of the navi or non-navi and control the ipod/iphone using the radio and steering wheel controls.

iSimple is awesome, a bit pricey for those on a budget, but we have 2 units and use them daily

I think 150ish for the kit

Expensive? No not really. I paid 39 bucks for mine and 49 for the one in my girls car.

both came from Amazon brand new units. You can also get brand new ones off EBay for under 40 bucks usually.

Thx Garrett, saw the unit on line, but I don't feel like removing the radio for the hook up, was looking for just a simple adaption from the Aux connector to USB, Cheers.

This looks like this might work? Just found by googling "3.5mm jack to usb adapter"

http://www.google.com/m/products/det...d=0CBsQ8wIwAg#

$7 amazon, reviews not great.

I just ordered a Kensington 2-in-1 Charger and Audio Cable for iPhone/iPod (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0031U1AU0). Supposedly does the same thing, but looks better made, better reviews, known brand, free shipping. I'll report after I get it.

Received the Kensington 2-in-1 Charger and Audio Cable for iPhone/iPod $26 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0031U1AU0).

Just a short drive so far but it works fine. Sounds great, sound is clear, charges and works with iPod classic and iPhone4. Very good quality, well made. Much more convenient just having the one cable attached.

Smile Great cable for iPhone/Pod use in the car

Thanks DAVCS for finding that cable and mentioning it. It was just what I needed. I don't listen to my iPhone a lot in the car, but having this cable may change that. I like being able to plug into the bottom of the phone, makes it easier to control. Of course it also charges so that is nice and one other perk is that because you are using the "iPhone port" instead of the headphone jack, you don't have to worry about having to adjust volume on the iPhone and your stereo.

I did purchase the first one you noted and have already used it. It works just fine ... FYI. I added the Kensington one to my cart for future reference in case I do develop trouble with the less expensive one.
