USA Spec iPod adaptor not working

Maybe I might get a littile more help on the TL side of the forums. I have the USA spec iPod adaptor in my TSX and would like to get one for my TL as well. However their is a problem which is keeping me from doing this mod to my TL.

I installed the USA spec iPod adaptor in my 2005 TSX last week. It worked fine until I shut the car off. Whenever I restart the car, the radio doesn't accept the adaptor as a part of the system. Instead, I hear my iPod playing through my XM source with strong static.
I've reconnected the adaptor many times and it works fine until I shut down the car.

Basically, the car no longer shows CD-C on the display after I restart.

Anyone ever had this problem before?

I won't buy another product from USA Spec. product ever. Creeps took my Canadian money but as soon as the unit quit working, they tell me it's a Canadian car so there is no guarantee. It worked fine for almost one year before dying!

Oh same problem as yours, just have to disconnect the piece of junk USA Spec. and it'll work ok. I disconnected and reconnected to verify it was the problem.

Its probably a bad cable, my cable that came with the USA SPEC didn't work, they overnighted me a new cable and it has been working fine since.

Your probably correct that it is the cable as the cable run's along side of the power seat rail. Maybe I'll order a cable to see if that fixs the problem. Although I only use it for long trips when the sound quality isn't that important to me.

I do believe it's the cable. I'm sending the unit back for an even exchange of another one. Thanks for the help guys. Hope this works.

This sounds like an issue with the radio. This is a known problem by Honda on newer Honda/Acura cars. It's more common with the 2007-2008 TL-S, 2006-2007 Accord and the 2006-2008 RL. However, I have seen it on a hand full of TSX's. For some reason the radio fails to recognize that input when the car starts up. I've personally spoke with Honda about this. They do not plan any fix for this and they claim has been cured somwhere in the 2008 Honda/Acura models. Your best option is to use an iPod adapter that inputs through your XM line. For example, the DICE ipod adapter will use the CD-C input. Or you can switch it to use your XM input and gain iPod TEXT. And your radio has no problem initializing the XM input at startup.

This doesn't really explain the audio through your XM source though. I've not seen that before. Let us know what happens when you swap the unit out with the replacement.

The CDC port is the XM one, and if the USA-SPEC cable is faulty, it can cause XM bleed.
