Doesn't that depend on where you live and how much you use it? I've been using the stock disc that came with my 06, and it gets me where I need to go. I rarely use it though.

I would do it regardless. Not only is it a killer price, but this is the last update EVER for the Orange disc (the one your TL uses).
Even if you're in an area where there are no updates, it makes your navi much more useful for long road trips. Although my phone's GPS is quicker, has more results, etc, I still prefer to use my TL's navi since it's built-in, doesn't suffer from cell service outages like my phone can, and plus it keeps my phone battery from getting used up while I drive from running its GPS.
ESPECIALLY if it's never been updated, you should definitely get the new update. A lot has changed since then (a lot changed for me between this new one-2014-and 2012, which was the last update I had for my navi).

Also, not that you will necessarily notice a difference, but I believe there are firmware or software updates within these nav disc updates as well. So not only would you be updating your mapping, stores, and whatever else, you will be updating your navi system to the latest software. I could be wrong about this but I think thats correct.
Even if you dont use the actual nav feature often, its nice to know that everything is up to date.

I think the software update stopped after 2009-- no new software loaded from the current disc to supplement my prior 3.80 version.
The 3.80 downloaded quite a bit of software to overwrite the 3.40 version that came with the new 2005 TL.

I have the 3.A0 orange disc sitting around doing nothing. I believe that was the 2011 update since 2014 is 3.D0. It's in the 2014 disc's sleeve simply to protect it. If someone wants it, PM me and we can work a deal for postage. I see no reason to charge anyone for the disc because it's useless to me as it is. (Won't be able to send it until next week, however.)

Dumb Question(s), I just ordered the 2014 White DVD Map Update v4.CO for my 2008 Acura TL (first ever update). Can I install myself or do I need to go to the dealer, are there any secrets I need to know to self install? Will I keep all my past destinations that were in the system before the update? Thanks for any help.

However, the previous destinations were wiped out when I installed the white disc in my 2005, so I assume your previous destinations will be wiped as well.
The Navi will retain all the "user" addresses, though (like home, dry cleaners, work, etc. that you might have put in for User 1 and/or User 2).

I meant "orange disc," not "white disc": it's the orange Navi DVD for '04-'06, and the white DVD for '07-'08.
Push the "Setup" button (to the left of the Navi joystick) and select tab 4 on the screen to get the Navi DVD database date.
For SoCal, there's probably not a huge difference in databases from 2011 to the present 2013 database on the 2014 discs.
Welcome to AZ.

Don't I need the disc to run it? I never took the disc back out, and I'm gointvtobtryvto hack it this weekend. If credible people tell me after I update it I don't need it, then I'll happily pass it along after I know my hack is fully functional. Don't want to be stuck without the disc to reset my nav.
