Still have engine noise!! 😔. Any suggestions?
So I installed a noise filter close to my amp. Aswell as checked my ground wich is good and my power cable is opposite side of my other wires. And I still have engine noise ! Wtf!! Any help ??
There's a few things to check...
Where is your amp mounted? If mounted somewhere to the car, it would be a good idea to mount to a wood board first and then mount to the car.
Check the ground on your deck. If you mounted the ground to somewhere inside the dash, you may be too close to the heater or other electronics that could be interfering causing feedback. I prefer to wire straight into the ground on the car's stock oem wire harness.
How long is the ground wire for your amp? If longer than 18 inches, that could be a problem. Also are you sure that your ground is good? Check with a volt meter to be sure.
How many watts is your amp? 4-gauge wire may not be thick enough for your setup. Especially if it is a cheap CCA wire with extra tubing in the middle. Those are not true 4 gauge and have been known to cause extra noise. I always recommend using true OFC wire and if you are running anything near a 1,000 watts, i always use a 0 gauge wire. This also helps if you decide to add another amp later.
If you only have noise on the radio mode of your deck, you could have a grounding issue with your antenna wire. They sell ground loop isolators for antenna wires to fix that.
Another big one is your RCA cables... if you are running cheap RCA's that could be your problem as well. I always recommend spending a little extra cash and getting the twisted RCA cables as they are usually of a much higher quality. I have seen a lot of RCA's that come in AMP Kits to be really cheap and produce a lot of noise.
There's a few for you to check out... good luck...

I have a full custom JL audio system including the wires rca's power etc etc installed by cartoys back in 2008. Well my car sat up in a garage up until 2013. Only thing that was done to it in that time was a new battery? Anyways I've checked my ground n it was good I even re did the ground. I installed a noise filter n nothing so I bought new JL audio rca's n still nothing?! Oh n my amp is screwed to a carpeted piece of wood. Not metal. So at this point I'm clueless of why I have engine noise ?
I don't think he read your entire post that said you already "re-did" your ground to your amp. Lol... not sure what else it could be CLOS... what kind of power wire are you running? Is it CCA or OFC? Also... how many watts is your amp?
