My factory tweeters blew, and i am about to replace front and rear speakers with coaxial alpine type s speakers. should i replace the factory tweeters in the dash or just disconnect them since the door speakers have tweeters mounted on them?

 

I wouldn't put coax speakers in there, especially if you are thinking of running tweeters as well. IHC can explain why much better than I can, but from what I know it's a waste of money to upgrade your rear speakers because you won't be able to tell the difference very well. Some people in these forums simply unhook the rear speakers and just run the fronts and subwoofer.

As far as the front goes, don't run coax speakers and have the dash tweeters hooked up at the same time. Do one or the other. I really don't think you'll get the same sound out of coax speakers in the doors compared to using tweeters in the stock locations and mids in the doors.The designers spent tons of time and R&D getting the best locations for acoustics.

My vote is replace the front tweeters with aftermarket and replace the door speakers with some good mids. Make sure whatever you get has the same impedance as the stock components, unless you are looking to upgrade the amp as well.
