What's mentioned above will work as well, or if you already hit OK and the map is already being displayed then you can click on "setup" and click "off" under the "display" section.

I usually have mine off if I know where I'm going and its because I feel the less you use the LCD it will last longer. This might not be correct, but makes me feel better I guess.

Also at night time, if Im' parked in front of my girls house and we're "talking" cough cough, shutting the LCD screen gives us more privacy.

....
That's how I turn mine off too. I almost never roll with it on. If I need it, I'll use it and turn it off. I just don't like the brightness in the car (at night) and the distraction.

I used to not press the OK button and it'd go off automatically however now I have the OK button hack and it goes to Navigation automatically. The only drawback I've noticed.

You can use voice commands too. "Setup", then "Off".

That's boss! I'm gonna do that! If you turn off voice feedback do commands execute quicker?

I just did it in mine. You need to say "setup" and then "display off" I did off and it just kicked me back to the navi screen.

^ That's funny. I don't have maps up here so maybe that's why just "off" works for me. Who knows. I have one of those voices that doesn't work well. My wife's voice can make the car do anything.

I knew I wasn't the only one doing this, lol! Sometimes you want some soft R&B in the back ground and you want the screen OFF
