If it cost $20 to ship one, and $30 to ship 5 units, you can see where the savings lies. Also, I may order several for myself and am simply extending the opportunity to others to save a few bucks.

No. My records show that I have not received a deposit from you.

To recap, here are wholesale prices on the following units that I will be ordering:
> MS-AC24 @US$ 73.00
> MS-AC44 @US$ 78.00
> The delivery charges depends on the weight of order. (I was quoted $20 shipping from Taiwan to me for a single unit. Obviously, the more the merrier as it would bring the shipping costs down.)

I'm going to order the silver 44R (NTSC model) for myself. I have 5 other orders at the moment. So that this thread doesn't get crowded with requests and people opting in or out, please PM me with your order. I will reply with a confirmation of your PM and payment info. At the moment, I plan to submit the order on the evening of Tuesday, March 14th to get the ball rolling.

Be sure to include:
  • model number (kenny_c's black MC-AC24R or silver MC-AC44R )
  • name and shipping address
  • an email address that I can contact you at if necessary
  • $40 deposit (roughly 50%) per unit* (I'll send my paypal address when I receive your PM.) I'll contact you for the remainder of the payment just prior to shipping your requested order.
*I'd hate to try to cover the entire order out of my own pocket, so I'd like to ask a deposit to insure I don't get stuck with a purchase should someone decide to back out. For feedback, see my eBay rating (100%+ on 36 transactions) by clicking this link

Thanks,
Alan

I can only place orders for units in which I have received a deposit for.

Hey ITL, your pm box is full. I was checking out the misumi website, and I see the also offer the MS-AC14R that has a 130 degree view. Would it be possible to get this camera in your shipment? I'm a little concerned the 150 degree camera will give a fish-eyed image.

I now have 11 cameras on the list. When PMing me with your order, please be sure to enter your contact info and model # of the camera you would like. I will reply with my Paypal address for the deposit. Requests with no deposit will not be submitted with tomorrow's order.

The three of you who have not made a deposit have been notified.

Thanks,
Alan

PAL is a color TV system used primarily in Western Europe, NTSC is used in N. America. Dom's converter can probably handle both standards, but I see no reason to order PAL version.

The 14R has lux rating of 1, where the 24 and 44 have a rating of .5
Thats a pretty big difference.

I'm not familiar with the lux rating. Does that have to do with resolution? Anybody else concerned about the 150 degrees being too wide causing a fish-eyed look? The 24 that Kenny has looks nice, but some extra coverage would be good too. I'm kinda torn between the two.

that RGB converter sold by Dom can handle ALL protocols:
Features:
1. Digital decoding and encoding ensures best conversion quality.
2. Converts NTSC/PAL /SECAM composite video to RGB/Sync
or RGSB(Sync on Green).

3. Input system auto detecting.
4. RGBS input loop through.
5. Sync polarity switchable between positive and negative.
6. Output brightness adjustable.

Good 'ol capitalism! She is on ebay to make money, not charity.

No need to be upset.

If there is more demand after this first order, I will post a forum-wide deal for everyone. With this thread in 3G, my PM has been filled 3 times, I've got 19 cameras requested, and I haven't even gone through all of my messages yet...hell, I'm even covering roughly half of the cost for each one of these by only asking a $40 deposit.

If I get more than 20 units, I'm going to have to ask twice the deposit from additional interested parties. 20 units already puts me roughly $800-900 out of pocket...

Those that made deposits have been notified of an update via email. Please check it out. I was able to get both cameras shipped to your door for just under $100 each due to the volume of our order. Saved $30 compared to the woman on eBay

Thanks,
Alan

I had a few latecomers this morning and have received almost everyone's full payment. I have just placed the final order for 22 units. I expect them to confirm with the final price in the morning and then I will make payment the following day after returning the signed order form that they will have generated.

Your expectation:
Expect to receive your unit at the address you provided me in about 5 weeks. The order will be shipped 14 days after receiving payment. Shipping should take approximately two weeks to the US. Your cameras will be shipped via Priority mail (2-3 days). Those of you in Canada will need to add about 6 days lead time for the international shipping from the US.

Thanks,
Alan

Tiny CCD camera

Check this guy's eBay Listing. He has a very small CCD camera for $115.

Really?!? It is advertised as a reversed image ccd with 135 degree viewing angle. I shouldn't believe everything I read.

Thanks. I'll keep looking.

Ooops. this one IS mirror image.

The truth is that I ordered that model from Wendy but she let me know the one I ordered is standard image instead of mirrored. She let me switch to the one that I have, which is a little bigger, CCD, and mirror image.

This one will work. But as palmultiacura pointed out, it's a CMOS camera, which means the pic quality will not be as good.

CMOS is less sensetive in theory, but it all depends on implementation, really. Canon Digital SLR cameras use CMOS sensors, and they work the same or even better than other brands with CCDs.
Another problemis that AFAIK there is no industry standard methodology to measure light sensetivity (Lux parameter), so comparing camersas from different brands may be meaningless.

Alan, thank you so much for doing this. Now I dont have to fight with all the other TLers when more cameras get on ebay.

You sold 22 cameras and are not going to get any positive eBay feedback... You have to sell something that I can buy off of ebay to provide you with positive feedback. How about a link to a DIY Perhaps an extra piece of tape on the box... Anything something...

Thank you again!

Let me know what I can do for you!

Thanks, Kracker. That is an excellent idea. I'll work on coming up with some sort of penny auction so that you guys can leave me some positive feedback for this deal I'm surprised I didn't think of that. I'll come up with something and post details in a couple of weeks.

ITL, I would advise against the penny auctions for feedback. It is against ebay rules, because our transaction has nothing to do with ebay. Anyway, I think it is pointless, because if you have a consistent positive feedback on ebay, been registered for a while and don't sell high fraud items (i.e. laptops), you are fine even with relatively low feedback number. Like here, the fact that you've been on board for a more than a year and made a considerable number of post was enough for me to trust you.

Woohoo! So now that the order is placed in Taiwan (was it Taiwan?), how long are we looking at before it lands in the US of A? I've got my Dom Navi converter next to me just dying to replace the Sokolov I have already.

Is it too late to join in the group purchase? I tried to message ITL but his mailbox is full.

Well, since it is 5am there now, I would expect them to confirm payment in about 12 hours. The invoice stated that the units would be shipped 14 days after placing the order. Then an estimated 10-14 days shipping to USA, then approximately 2-3 days priority to your door. In short, expect the camera in 5 weeks. I will certainly reply here when I get more info.

Sorry, my inbox has been cleared (for the moment). Yes, unfortunately the order has been placed.

I might consider a second order in about 6 weeks if there's enough interest; however, I cannot post details on this forum as I am not a paying vendor. The mods were nice enough to leave this thread up since I am not profiting from this venture, yet they politely asked me not to post any new threads on this topic.

I certainly wouldn't want to jeopardize any supporting revenue to the forum- it is, after all, completely free for our use. I was simply trying to help out a community that has provided so much information for me. Perhaps a second deal could be arranged outside of this public forum, so I suggest you PM or email me with your interest. I'd like to get an idea on the turnaround times, packaging size, and overall customer satisfaction before placing another order.
