Is there a fix for the intermittent voice recognition not working?

I currently own my second TL. First was a 07 base with nav and my second is an 07 Type S. Both cars do the exact same thing where the voice recognition will not work intermittently and it drives me nuts. Yeah yeah I know its just as easy to put a button but I actually use the voice recognition. Anyway, every once in a while (seems like 30% of the time) when you press the button and speak it replies saying "pardon", "say again" or something like that when I am saying the correct command. It will continue to do this the entire trip or until the nav is turned off I believe. I have read about this issue before but wanted to make an updated post to see if there is a fix for it or if the dealer will go tell me to pound sand. Also, im not sure if this is only applicable to the 07/08 models since they do have a revised nav and software.

Thanks for any help.

James

Yeah but thats not really what I mean. Your issue sounds like your not saying the command correctly. My problem that I have experienced in two TL's is that the voive recognition system stop working completely even if the correct command was spoken. It will always reply by saying something like pardon, or say again...

Mine does that too. Calling her names doesn't help. I'm interested to see how to resolve this

It's not me.

FWIW...it does that to me on both my MDX and TL. It never does it to my wife. Even when it says "Pardon" to me, I'll push the button again and my wife will repeat, and it works fine.

Coincidence, I think not, it's a conspiracy.

I would suggest that you read the Service Bulletin in July 2008 which talks about the new microphone assembly that improves voice command recognition. It says for 09 models, so idk if the whole assembly swappable.

No I say the correct thing, the voice recognition just doesn't work all that great. I get the pardons as well.

Yesterday when I was trying to "call home" I kept getting "call pound" or "008" or "000" I have no idea why, but I was getting so pissed off. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one

I get the same thing at times. Try pointing your center vents down and turning down the A/C fan. Any other noises in the car will affect the microphone. Also, make sure your moon roof is closed and windows are up.

Yeah I know I do all that. It has nothing to do with that stuff although I do know your right. The voice recognition system simply does not work for that drive until the car is turned off and then back on.
