I think that the EQ is built into the HU, and the AMP just basically Amplifies the signal and has no input in it. But the EQ that the HU does is just only the treble, bass, subwoofer, and direction control.

There is variable EQ on the HU.

This is a good explination of the HU EQs

So if i wanna hookup a 2ch to power my front components, what are the steps to follow, when it comes to disconnecting the corresponding wires for the front speakers and tweeters?

Ive never installed an amp to power up speakers so im a little lost in following the right procedure, but ive installed many amps to power up subs which i find much easier

PLease clarify on this, i have a brand new set of CDT CL-61 6 1/2 components sitting in my garage for almost a yr lol

Thanks

Depending on the amp you are using you could either simply splice RCA ends onto the OEM amps output and hook the aftermarket amps output to your new speakers. Or get a hi-lo converter to get the RCA input needed. I suggest using the OEM door wiring thru the door jam. Running new wire to the tweeters is as simple as it gets.

PS. There is also equalization built in the OEM amp. It is non-defeatable and cannot be changed. It is very minor and most would probably never notice it. I had to use an RTA meter to find some of the differences.

re

so i disconnect the oem speaker wires from the amp and take ones only coming from the HU and install a loc on those to get rca outputs and run those to my new amp without resending new wires to the speakers and simply use the same oem wires that are run to them?

I would tap into the front output's of the oem AMP. Splice RCA's onto them and run RCA cables to the trunk to the new amp. Run new speaker wires back to each kickpanel for the passive crossovers I assume your new set has? For the mid out of the passive I would use the OEM wiring going into the door. Use new wire from the tweeter output of the passive to the new tweets.

If the input of the new amp clips then I would add a hi-lo converter.

I have a question along the same line... I have the Symbilink BLT, where do you suggest I tap in for a signal? I was told to do so before the signal hits the factory amp and then use a symbilink slb-u to boost my signal. Can you clarify that for me any?

Tap in after the amp AND use the SLB-U after it. If you are using the DC amps set the input to -12 in the amps and on the DRC set main volume at about -3 and you will get huge amounts of output around 30 on the dial.

Kind of complicated for real!!!

Would it be possible of getting a sketch of the wiring done to see exactly with no fault at all how to go ahead and make a safe install?

Thanks man
