Is there a difference between the 04-05-06 Navi?
Hi Guys,
I have an 04 with nav.
I was wondering if there are any differences between the 04/05/06 navi?
Threason i ask is because i saw this on the acura.ca website about the 06 navi.
Was wondering if the 04/05 has this too?
Please see below. the hi-lited points.
Is it because of the 06 dvd or is it the navi system itself?
Well I get this is I buy the dvd?
With the TL's easy-to-use multi-function Acura Satellite-Linked Navigation System with bilingual Voice Recognition, you may never have to ask for directions again. To map your route, simply touch the voice-activation button on the steering wheel and speak your commands. Whether you're looking for the nearest ATM, restaurant or gas station, the TL's bilingual voice recognition software can recognize over 600 verbal commands. It also boasts a real-time moving map display and audio voice directions. The system uses Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites, an onboard inertial-guidance system, and speed sensors to constantly calculate the TL's position. Simply ask the system to show you the most direct route to your destination or offer an alternate route. And with the Zagat Survey Ratings®, it can help you pick a premium restaurant.
thanks

My 05 does not have Zagat Survey Ratings...is it possible to upgrade our systems to include this?

The Zagat is only available with the 4.x DVD software / hardware. 04 - 06 TL use the 3.x DVD software / hardware.

I believe bilingual recognition ability (English or French) is only available on Canadian TLs . I have the 06 nav, and it does not come with zagat ratings, but it shows you many restaurants in your immediate location and gives you addresses and phone numbers.
Now, if the nav can also act as a bilingual interpreter, that would be really cool

ChicoOG, to go to 4.x you'll need to source a new DVD unit. At this time, they are pretty rare but expect to pay about $1,000 (which is reasonable) wait 1-2 years and the price will drop to $500 like the 3.x unit did.

Think I'll spend $20 on amazon for the "old fashioned" version of zagat...a book!! And put it into my glove box
Realtime traffic with my 06
Does anyone know if there are plans to upgrade the 06-TL Nav to show traffic like RDX does. I just downloaded GMM (Google maps mobile) onto by 8700i Blackberry, and it show traffic.
ON a relate note, the BB has tethered modem ability, has anyone thought about the possibility of using tethered modems (over Bluetooth or USB) to feed data to the nav computer. I am thinking about a hard drive based music players (iPOD) and itunes on the go.
Thoughts?
