T637 doesn't automatically find HFL in car
Hi,
I replaced my V600 with a SE T637. The phone paired easily with the TL and has no problem automatically transferring incoming calls to the TL.
Maybe someone who has this phone can help with this problem. When you bring the phone to the car [car off] and then start the car the phone is not discovered automatically. To have the car find the phone I have to go through: menu>connect>Bluetooth>My Devices>select device [i.e. White Acura-renamed from default name]>connect. The phone then searches and finds the TL and all is well.
Anybody have this same problem?
What I'd like to do is have the phone on, take it to the car, and automatically have the car recognize the phone. V600 did this part ok, but it just didn't transfer incoming calls properly.
Thanks.

When you select bluetooth to be on, you can make it "discoverable." Make sure that's turned on. When I went to the dealer to test out the Sony Ericsson K700 and I had the same problems you did. At one point, I just had to turn bluetooth on and another time I just left it discoverable and it worked. New firmware is due out in 2-3 weeks as far as I know.
Thanks Stewie,
I did a voice actuated sytem clear in the TL and then Paired the phone again and all seems to work well now with the phone automatically being discovered by the TL when the phone arrives within range. After doing this it didn't matter what profile I used but I decided to set it to "in car" as that seemed to have the best settings for using the phone in the car. Profiles look like a useful tool and are easy to change-glad you found them.

One of the things I just noticed yesterday about pairing - at least with my 637/Cingular service is that the car will not recognize the phone as readily if I turn on the phone INSIDE the car. However, if the phone is up and running prior to entry, the TL seems to pick it up just fine. FWIW.

I Just picked up the T637 with Cingular and it works like a charm!!!! Paired the phone in 2 minutes while the Cingular guy was writing up my paperwork.....I'm Luvin it!

I've had the SE637 for about 2 weeks now and have had no probelms what so ever. I was hesitant to use cingular as their coverage in the past has been below average at best, however this time around it has been outstanding.
Love the phone!

I too bought the SE T637 from Cingular the same day I bought my new TL (Friday). I had it paired up in minutes and have had no problems since. Great phone. Great car. I recommend them both.
Unfortunately I had just signed a two year deal with SprintPCS on a sweet new Sanyo 8200 phone just 3 weeks earlier (before I decided to buy the TL). So i took the $150 hit to void the contract (they have 1 poor bluetooth offering) and now I have a Sanyo phone to sell
I must say though, I believe Sprint PCS has better coverage in my area (San Jose, CA) than Cingular.

Why did you sell the V-600. I just bought one from ATT and it works perfectly. I had my Sony Ericsson for only 2 months and couldn't stand that phone. The buttons are too small, the reception is terrible, and you can't see the screen in the daylight....all over just a terrible phone. The Moto phone works fine but it doesn't transfer the battery strength meter to the MID. I paired the phone is less than 3 minutes with the car, and it's working perfectly. I don't have to keep the lid open either...it's just a great phone.
The SE T637 does display battery strength, signal strength and caller ID on MID. When I talked with Acura about the T637 they said they were currently evaluating the phone but, as of now, it is not on the approved list. It does work well with the TL and, at least in my experience, surpasses the Motorola V600 which is on the approved list.

JetJock,
I would have stuck with the V600 [from Cingular] except the HFL in the TL would not receive calls [outgoing calls worked fine]. The ergonomics of the V600 are very good [I like clamshell designs] but the problems with the TL [and the difficulty in getting Cingular to help on the software upgrade] was a show stopper.
I switched to the SE T637 [from Cingular] based on excellent review on this forum and, from my limited experience comparing both phones in the Washington DC area, I think the T637 seemed a little better at reception.
I was [and still am] with Verizon [for one of my other phones] and would have stayed with them if the had a bluetooth phone when I needed it. They now have the Motorola V710 [many threads on this] and I am patiently waiting to see if the phone Verizon sells will have improved firmware over the Radio Shack phone [its nice to see battery level and signal strength in the MID-something the V710 appears not able to do with its current firmware].
