Just picked up the 7100t. Excellent graphics and phone quality.
T-mobile rep said that the BlueTooth system is only compatible with the wireless ear piece.
He did not know about the TL's compatibility.
Will let you know if the car recognizes and syncs with the 7100t.

I beta tested this phone w/ BT functionality disabled. If you look at your manual, it does have the handsfree profile and should work perfectly fine w/ the TL. Personally, I didn't really like the phone, but that might have been because BT and AIM functionalities were disabled, didn't have much use for it. It also felt really light, but the construction was rather rugid for something made from probably 90% plastic.

The HP IPAQ 6315 also has handsfree profile and headset profile enabled but it doesn't pair with the TL. I'm afraid the blackberry will fall into the pda/phone category but crossing out fingers it pairs with the TL.

Have the (HP) PPC from T-mobile and am getting rid of it.
PPC has a faster web browser but BB 7100t is better phone, e-mail and pix quality.
Also I travel to Europe, Asia and South America and the the quad band on the BB.
So far I like the BB better for my needs.
Good luck

I've been using the 7100t with my '05 TL for about a month now. Works great for incoming calls- just hit the pickup button and talk. The signal and battery meters both show up on the MID. Alas, I've still had to program voice dial #s separately into the car- the car can't translate my dialing sufficiently to dial hands free. Having e-mail, calendar, and bluetooth built into the phone is great. Battery life is not great but I guess you can't have everything.

I have a TL and a Blackberry 7100t (just got it) but when I went to turn on the Bluetooth radio, the menu says disabled. Is your's from T-Mobile? If so, did it come with Bluetooth enabled or disabled?

Thanks,
<TED>

I think it came disabled. You have to enable the bluetooth on the settings screen, where you can turn it on or turn it off.

Thanks! The manual didn't say anything about that. I got it enabled and paired (a real snap) and it works just fine! I'm really glad that I got it working. Being truly hands free is a great safety feature.

Best,

Treo 650 from Cingular is pretty nice. It's good at being a PDA and a phone. The screen's resolution is now 4 times tighter than the 600, and there's the good ole Bluetooth connectivity (also 23 MB of built-in memory!). However, if you want a good mobile messenger, gow ith T-Mobile's Sidekick.

Unhappy

I'd like to get the Treo 650, but so far it looks like a product to stay far away from until the next version. Most owners complain about its failure to hold BT for long, garbled sound, constant resets of the system and breakage of the QWERTY keys (especially the "P" key). I'm a long time Palm user, but based on all the reviews, it looks like a product that was released while still in beta. (See www.treocentral.com)

I am having a problem with my BlackBerry 7100t:

Whenever I enter the car I have to manually accept the incoming Bluetooth connection. Is there anyway to make the link automatic?
Otherwise the phone works great with the car and shows both signal strength and battery level.

Thanks for your help.

To get the BB to automatically accept the Bluetooth connection go to the properties for the HFL under Options -> Bluetooth and set the trust level. It should then automatically accept.

Thank you Dave04TL.

Actually it was the BlackBerry that was not trusting the HFL, I should have clarified it. However you were right on target.

On my handheld I did:

Settings --> Bluetooth --> HandFreeLink --> Device Properties --> Change to trusted Yes

Thanks again,
MadItalian

Thanks, Dave. Mine had that same characteristic though I have been so happy to have it working that I could ignore that minor inconvenience. I took your advice
which makes this an even more convenient device.

Many thanks!

I've been using the 7100t with the TL since November...everything works great except on incoming calls, the callerID on the mid appends "_129" to every phone number. While this doesn't affect the phone call, it's just a minor nuisance.

RIM, T-Mobile, and Acura: none of them want to help...

Do a search on "_129" and you will find many posts on it.
