Suggestion on a dead console

I have a 2004 TL without the navigation. I just had the CD player replaced two months ago under warranty. Today I can't turn the radio console on at all. No power. The bluetooth icon appears on the screen and the blue lights around the knobs are on but no power - no CD no tape player.

I have an iPod cassette adapter in the tape player and as I vacuumed the car today I sucked the plug into the rubber hose. I can't imagine a static charge would kill the entire system. The fuse (#5) appears ok.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

something internally may be damaged. Acura should warranty the repair for 12 months or 12K.

Thanks. My warranty ran out in November. Would you recommend going to the dealer or an auto audio shop?

Your best bet would be to try taking out the radio and checking the internal fuse inside it.

For the record - Acura tells me there are three fuses that impact the radio (and not internal to the radio). I'll post here when I get it fixed.

You've checked all the fuses -- you can remove the negative terminal off the battery for 10 minutes (have your radio code ready) and then re -seat the neg terminal...

If they replaced the headunit only 2 months ago -- i agree with the above post where they should warrant their replacement unit for at least 6 months...

Bump.

The outcome was that the dealer replaced it free under the warranty, after checking all the fuses in the shop. They found one out but that did not help. They hinted that I could be liable for $300 if they found it was something I did (ie the iPod cassette adapter).

I am no longer going to use the cassette adapter for my iPod.

LOL! You could be "liable"???

What are they gunna do, have an Acura detective call you in a couple weeks and charge you the money? Is there a head-unit autopsy? I hope you wiped your prints...

Glad they took care of it.

Bump.

To close the loop on this thread, they replaced the unit (no charge) and I no longer use the iPod cassette. All is well.
