Subwoofer Problem :(

So i purchased 2 10-inch JL W1 Series subs, W/box, 800W JL amp for my 2007 Acura TL I bought the system off a buddy for 300$ (and he only had it for a week!). I just got the system installed at Future-shop yesterday (paid 200$ for install/wires!) It pounds HARD though.

But i'm having a problem, when the car is on "accessory" (when keys turned --not started-- and the audio works but nothing else) the subwoofer doesn't work, but the music is still playing but without the sub. When i turn it to the 2nd stage (before starting the car), the subwoofer kicks in, then of course when started, the sub works fine.

So my question is, did they screw something up during the install and should i take it back to future shop, or is it suppose to be like that to save battery?

Furthermore, with a sub, how long should i keep the car on battery without turning it on and not killing the battery?

Thanks!

They probably have the remote (turn-on) wire to the amp going from a "run" wire instead of an "accessory" wire. Call them and ask them. You can do it either way, but yes, this does save the battery.

I would not pound the thing unless the car is on. With a good battery, then 5 or 15 minutes might not be too bad. With a so-so or bad battery, a few minutes could kill it completely.

Well, went there and asked why the Subwoofer isn't working on accessory. The guy working there said since i have a stock deck (navi deck), that the amp can only find the audio when the car is started and not on the battery, since they didn't touch the deck during install..

Not true, like the other guy said, they took the trigger from an ignition on source instead of an accessorty source. Honestly, an average battery is only going to have a few minutes of run time. My stock battery lasted 3-4 minutes with it turned up. It's almost better the way they have it because you can listen to it for a long time in the accessory position as if the sub is not there. It seems weird at first but I believe it's better your way.
