fuck my head hurts from reading your short sentence.
Your amp shuts off because it's hot outside and it's working to hard especially when you turn it up. is that what you are saying basically?
What is the brand of the amp? and you don't need a cap.

So what ur saying its works during its normal outside but when it's hot out side you have no more bass? if yes that means that ur amp heats up which is normal the best u can do is try to run a lower gauge cable like 2 gauge. and also please be a little more especifc . on what subs you running.

4 is more than enough for a 1200 watt pioneer amp... RMS or otherwise.
What kind of sub do you have (model number and specs)? How do you have it wired? ...and which model pioneer amp do you have?
Just telling us Pioneer 1200W amp and Pioneer 12" sub will not help at all... we need model numbers and specifics of the stuff.
My guess is that you have an ohm load close to, or exceeding, the limits of the amp and it only goes into protect mode when it gets hot. You get luck the rest of the time when it is cool.

Sad thing with younger people, give less than a sentence of issues and expect full blown "this will fix it" answers.
Not correlating young age with experience, but...
1. Did you hook this up yourself?
2. Was the amp new or old? If old and purchased from someone maybe there are issues.
3. Please learn the basic troubleshooting techniques before you ask for help.
