Sub Encloser?

Has anyone found a good sealed sub en closer for the passenger side trunk like the one Uncald4 makes? I all ready have the Uncald4 sub en closer with a JL W6 and want more bass

And thinking on adding another W6 10" with a JL 500/1 amp

why not go small ported?

the trunks are big enough for a small 1-.1.5 cube box

I agree. More volume from the same sub and amp.

I used to think sealed box=best SQ but I know that's not true anymore. I think sealed are easier to build and harder to screw up. They take up less space and they will sound good.

However, properly designed, a ported and banpass can sound as good, sometimes better, and you get a TON more SPL assuming of course it's designed right.

The way I look at it is if you can get enough volume (SPL) out of one sub in a ported or bandpass, it's still going to take up less space than 2 subs in a sealed box.

I've always heard terrible things about bandpass boxes but now I know it's because most people incorrectly design them or they buy the prefabbed boxes. I'm sure this holds true with ported too.

I have to say I have never herd a good band pass/ported box when put next to a sealed. If one that is made to fit nicely in our trunk and performs I would give it a try. I kinda really like the sealed box I have now the way it's tucked the corner and takes up little use able space.

if you've never heard a good band pass/ported box next to a sealed then likely those that you've heard were never really tuned right. Same goes for a sealed box that is not tuned. Again the right box will sound shitty in one car while that same box and speaker will sound awesome in a different car.

Of course, there is no substitute for more subs, but if you want to keep the one location, drop a Q in that same box with a 1000-1200W amp. They can absolutely hammer and sound great.

Of course, I have no idea how big that enclosure is or if it will work.

I am going 12" Q and BD1500.1 in mine as soon as my fiberglass comes.

Sort of. But CSW reported an 8db gain with this bandpass over a sealed box with the same type and number of subs. I believe that's MORE than adding an extra sub but I could be wrong.

To the OP, check out TRIOD's posts on his shallow mount 10" bandpass ported through the are rest. It sounds like it was insanely loud for the sub he was using and did not take up much trunk space at all. With this method you have no rattles and lower power requirements.
