Exclamation Stock Audio System Upgrade

I have a TL with navigation, Im a student so I don't want to spend too much ($1000+) but i would like to upgrade the audio from my car (best bang for buck).

I want loud but clear music and some bass but don't want too much bass that its all you hear. Was thinking of just replacing the front speakers but i read here that it would just make it sound worse due to the higher resistance in aftermarket speakers (from 2 to 4 ohms) so should I just replace the stock amplifier with an aftermarket one? or would this burn out the stock speakers?

I also would like to leave the trunk area alone as its frequently used

opinions welcome

Let me give you good advise from a guy that no less than 2 weeks ago has spent countless trips back and forth between stores because I wanted an upgrade.

To put you in context, i didnt want to change anything, but my pass door speaker + subwoofer blew within about a week. So I looked around a lot of speakers, reviews, threads. I first bought a pair of JVC for under 100$ for the 2 front and another 100$ for back. Hated the sound, felt like i was driving a 1990's civic. So i tried just to test the front until I find a good pair, tried 250$ a pair Harmonds, then 100$ more for Infinity, they all lacked bass, like on 1 to 10, they were 1. So i asked the guy for the pair that had the most exagerated bass. He gave me a 350$ pair of kickers. Installed those, it was already better, bit no where near the sound quality of the stock 20W speakers.

As a final try, i returned those, and wanted to test something, a proof on concept. I went to a specialized audio show and bought a pair of Sundown 1200W 2ohm speakers...they cost a whopping 1299$ for a pair. So I installed them, and guess what, very powerful speaker, heavy bass, clear trebble, but still, they sounded muffled.

My point is, the ELS speakers that came with the TL are, IMO, EXCELLENT. They prove that specs is not all, and don't judge a book by its cover. I've been without a sub for about 2 weeks, and still, every time my friends come in, they are amazed on how much bass my system can produce, and how clear the sound can be if i use the right equalizer settings. Unless you are going to change every component of the sound system, speakers, sub, amp, tweets, wires, brackets, harness, and spend AT LEAST 1200$ for everything, don't even bother. If your stock system has not cracks or tears, keep it, because whatever you put in will not be worth 1200$

Fun fact. When i brought my 1200$ speakers back, the clerk, who was also a sound conaisseur, and swore by the sound of Bang and Olufse (google any of their speakers, you'll see) said that a lot of luxury vehicles have speakers designed specifically for the car. The shape, the hardware used to mount the speakers, the build materials, and specs, when all that is put toguther, he said you can get exceptionally great sound as long as you dont max out the volume, max 80% and use the right equalizer. He said the TL is known for having a great system designed in partnership with some german studio boss, and made to measure with the accoustic reverbation of the car. And I agree with him, it's funny how a 200W sound system can easily beat a 3000W system with the right acoustics

Ridiculous response? I hope you were talking about your own post.

From the guy that brought you: What can I do to stop rear rattle? -Take the sub out.

Are you always so helpful?

And BTW, you pretty much gave the same response I did, when a guy asked what is the best replacement sub and you answered "stay with stock or do something worth it", except I took the time to explain why the best bang for you buck is staying stock, its free and still delivers better audio quality than most other luxury car and sub 1K sound system. So if you want an upgrade, spit out the upgraded wallet cargo.

unfortunately you do not have a clue about how to upgrade this system. And your posts are completely misleading and full of errors. for 1K you can have an amazing system. its just requires research and proper execution. What you have attempted so far has been a complete waste of time and unsuccessful for many reasons.

Do I sound like somebody that was on a mission to upgrade the sound system in the car? No, i don't give a shit. I just wanted something that would sound at least as good as the stock speaker. And do I also sound like I give a shit about my grammar at 2am? Also not on my list. Unless you were born in an acoustic room with Jimmy fuckin Lovine, you don't know how to upgrade this system either. You, like everybody other knob sucker that replied above to this thread, have made your own path to understanding the dos and and donts of sound. I'm 30, not 13, I rather put a grand on a house payment than in a set of speakers. But at least i'm glad to help and share my experience with people that are asking for advise, no matter how much you agree or not with me, you have the right to be constructive and voice your opinion by what I might have said that you disagree with. And I can guarantee that reading what different people did right or wrong helps much more than the waste of time you contributed to this thread, and many others in the recent days.

And for the c**ks*ck**s above, or should I say, Heel or Toe suckers, are you mad bro? I understand why though, when you live on a forum, its not easy to deal with somebody that speaks the truth, especially since you've gobbled so many loads in the past you're so used to this you've accepted it as the way to conduct business ethics

In summation..
Polish Pat is searching for a speaker that sounds as good as a stock speaker (have you tried the stock speaker, made in China special?).

Polish Pat doesn't know what he's doing.

Polish Pat is 30 and would rather spend his money on a house payment (although he lives with his mother) than upgrade his speakers or a rare set of A-Spec suspension.

Polish Pat also believes sharing his bullshit non-experience ignorant ramblings are helpful.

Polish Pat is butthurt like a a motherfucker.

Actually you just sound like a looser. I just hope no one gets sidetracked by your misinformation. Jimmy Lovine?? WTF

So you expect us to believe that you spent over a thousand dollars on some speakers to test your concept? And you powered these speakers with the pathetic ELS amp and you wonder why it sounds unremarkable? How did returning those speakers work out for you.........of course they refunded your money for a piece of electronics that was installed and operated.

At least your entertaining. If your happy with the stock system then there really is no point to this discussion.

HAHAHAHA. So many idiots. Really, pure idiots. I'm not even surprised, when you have such a high post count, how can you have time for a life?

P.S. The speakers are made in the USA, maybe you should use that vaseline you love so much to ease with the pain.

P.P.S. What's wrong with china? Most premium products are made in china, doesnt mean they are crap

The speakers aren't made in the USA.. and point being.. they're cheap AF.
btw.. I heard you have a busted door speaker..

Thanks
What a newbcunt post..
Don't worry sweetie.. I'll send a spare made in the USA speaker to your mama's house. Wouldn't want you to redneck engineer a speaker ruining the superb ALS audio or have mom spending her hard earned money keeping her from making this month's mortgage payment. It'd be a shame to lose such a nice house.
