Is stock amp needed?

a pre-install question ...
someone mentioned that stock amp "completes the circuit" for NAV and HFL
is it true? or can it be safely thrown as far as an eye can see?

You don't need the amp for the nav and HFL to function, but you need to replace it with something if you want the sound to come out of speakers. They use the fronts and centers, so have a solution if you care. I have my navi sound turned off, so even though I have a center, it is not used. HFL uses the fronts. The muting of the radio for HFL and navi is handled in the head unit.

of course i'm replacing it with something
i'm not in in the habit of taking random parts out of my car and throwing them in the garbage ...
although there was big clunking chunk of iron once hanging under the front bumper, that that may tell you otherwise
