How Do I Pair the A900

I have tried to pair my '06 TL with my A900 and it does not seem to find the phone. I downloaded the updates from the phone, but is there another download I need to perform (i.e., from the Sprint website)?

Thanks!

The car will not find the phone, you need to put the car in pairing mode and find the car from your phone.

Read the manual if you don't know how to put the car in pairing mode.

Like HiTEC said. Go through the motions of pairing the car and say the 4 digit pairing code. Then quickly on the phone, turn on bluetooth and look for another device.

So what is the final word on this phone with the lastest firmware ? What works and what doesn't

Looking to get an A900 with SprintPCS or a Razr with Verizon

Any recommendations?

Thank you

Based on my experience with it, I won't recommend the A900 for the TL. The phantom calls are extremely annoying, and have locked up the system in the car several times already. I have the latest firmware but that didn't help at all.

Do you have firmware version ZB12? That update completely fixed the phantom call issue.

Only problem that I still have is I can't hang up using the steering wheel control.

I actually just cancelled verizon (with the razr) because I hated that phone and company for so many more reasons. Crappy VZW interface, no bluetooth OBEX, short battery life, terrible EVDO coverage, and expensive plans.

I have version ZA06 on it and when trying to update the firmware again it indicates that no new updates are available. I also went to the Sprint store last weekend to verfify that I am running the latest firmware and they confirmed. How did you get this version?

There was some problems with ZB12 causing a WSOD, so they pulled it. I got it before they pulled it, and it seems to have fixed the phantom calls issue. My back button still doesn't work, but I heard another member say that his back button works.

Quick question...I just purchased the A900, and the one major problem that I'm having is. When I'm on a call and someone else calls in (call waiting), both of my calls go into limbo on my cell phone, and I can't get to either caller. I do have the latest firmware ZB12.

Anyone else having this problem????

Thanks. So there is hope that they will release a version that fixes the phantom calling then. I can live with the other shortcomings but the phantom calls and lock-ups are extremely frustrating.

i dont get phantom calls anymore after the last update, but still cant hang up with the back botton. One interesting i found out over the weekend road trip was that when my phone is in vibrating mode only, the calls that comes in dont show the callers number on MID at all. Can someone verify this?

Also, it gets annoying after I got out the car, the phone wont pick up the incoming calls, as it think its still in the HFL mode. So I have to make sure that I dont use the cellphone until i am far away from the car.

Has there been any updates that will integrate this phone with the HFL a little smoother? I don't want to drop 300 beans on this phone yet if it's still a little unstable. Thanks!

As far as I know there have been 3 updates, and one has been pulled because it caused the white screen of death on some phones. So I am still waiting for a new update

I wonder if there will ever be an update that will fix the issues. This phone has been out for about 4 monhths, correct? And it still has a few issues. I love this phone, I'm just wondering if I would be better off getting the 920 or 940. Decisions, decisions...I will probably just bite the bullet and get one.

The 920 and 940 is just as bad (if not worse). If you want stable bluetooth I would avoid the Sammy's at this time. If you're willing to deal with it (hopefully it gets fixed) I would go with the 900 over the 920/940 because they aren't going to be any better.

This is at least what I read on these forums, and I'm always on the cell forums as well.

Crap. I was under the impression that the 920 and 940 were a little better. Although, I do admit I haven't researched them much. I just wish Sprint would offer a phone that integrates well. I really don't want to switch carriers if I don't have to. Maybe I should have bought the LG 325 when I got my a700.

What cell forums are you on? HoFo and Sprintusers? Is there any other site that gives good info?

Thanks!

There is supposed to be a LG550 coming out with Sprint soon. So that may be an option.

Yea, I've been active on Hofo for about 5 years (first with Nextel forum, now Sprint), and I've been on SprintUsers for about a year or so. I also look at pcsintel.com and phonescoop.com a lot for general phone news. I have those two sites in my RSS feed so I get notified right away about new phone releases and what not.

This is from PCSintel about the LG550 (sounds like a decent handset):

Internal Sprint documents leaked onto the internet today that confirm the existence of the LG MM-550 and also confirm a Treo 700p launch date of 5/28/2006.

The Treo 700p will build on the Treo 650 by adding EV-DO, 1.3 megapixel camera, and MM-class features such as support for Sprint TV, streaming music, and phone-as-modem. The device will carry 128 MB of RAM built-in along with SD card support.

We caution readers to note that internal projected launch estimates are not hard dates, and are in fact expected to change due to supply and testing delays.

In addition to leaked information confirming the LG MM-550, we are also able to provide the following specifications for the device:

Flip-phone with circular music playback buttons on front
EV-DO with MP3 playback and FM transmitter
Bluetooth with A2DP Support
Wireless Backup
Changeable Faceplates
176x220 Pixel Display
1.3 Megapixel Camera

bluetooth headset problem

Hi,

I just paired a motorola bluetooth headset to my samsung A900 and it worked fine. but after going into my car, i realized the bluetooth connection with my car is gone, doesnt show up on my phone anymore. has anyone experience this? Is it only one pairing allowed, either pair with headset or car's hfl? please help.

I would assume the A900 would allow multiple, but that's a good question. I know I have 6 or 7 pairings in my Sprint Treo 650 right now, but that's not really the answer you were looking for. If the phone only allows one that would be pretty lame!

Good question.

A920 with YB12 Firmware

I recently got an A920 with the YB12 version of the firmware. It works very well with my 06' TSX. No problems at all- I can even hang up using the hang-up button. I tried demos of the A900 and the A920 that did not have the latest firmware and they did not pair very well- phantom calls, would not dial numbers... Latest firmware takes care of these issues- at least for the A920.

So I tried pairing my A900 with the TL. The TL wont find the phone but the phone can find the TL, however then I get a message from the TL telling me that the pairing can not be done from the phone to the TL and that I should return to the menu to have the TL find the phone. Any suggestions?

I sure hope Acura is putting some pressure on Sprint to address this issue. Sprint's large and growing list of incompatible Bluetooth phones is making them look downright incompetent. It makes you wonder what else they can't get right.

I am just waiting for another firmware update, my phone is acting up real funny lately

IT has been freezing up a lot, on incoming calls, while I am calling, and when I turn the camera on it locks up the entire phone sometimes. So I have been removing the battery like 2-3 times a week. This phone sucks compared to the Razor..........its got tons of features, but you can't use them

And I keep waiting for a new update, they removed the last one cause people were getting the white screen of death.

I have the same issue with the A900 on the TSX. I worked the first time when I paired it, but no more. Now the car can't find the phone. I'm sooo over Sprint.

It appears that Acura is retesting the A900 according to the owners link phone compatibility page. Could it be that Sprint got it fixed and asked Acura to try again?

I just upgraded to the A900 last week...had the usual problems with HFL not allowing a steering wheel hangup, no voice redial, etc. I called Acura and the man I spoke to said that although the A900 is listed as "testing" he is quite sure that it will be labeled "incompatible" because of not being able to hang up the call via HFL. He said that, as a minimum, BT-enabled cell phones must be able to initiate and end calls via HFL to be labeled as compatible. I'm still keeping my A900 even though I've got a couple more weeks in which to turn it in...way too good of a phone with way too many features. I can deal with having to wait for the other caller to hang up first or pushing "end" on the phone to hang up. Bottom line: If you are interested in this phone check it out...Don't let the HFL issue stop you...then again...If you're an absolute perfectionist and have all of the requisite hang-ups the few "bugs" might bother you too much.

ZB12 is still being loaded and is the most current firmware. you still cannot hang up from the steering wheel.

Handsfreelink has been "testing" this phone for over a month and a half, When I spoke to them they were actively trying to get Sprint/Samsung to fix this problem as they do not have really any truly compatible phones besides the POS Katana.

everyone should e-mail hansfreelink just to let them know how many people want to use this device, I am confident a firmware upgrade will solve this hang up issue. I agree its to nice of a phone to give up on even though the manual hang up situation is a drag.

What is the email address for Acura? Do you also have the problem of the phone hanging up when call waiting happens? This is more annoying than the hang up issues. Someone said the a900m works in the TL, anyone confirm this?

Hey guys I just wanted to chime in about my experience so far with my 06 TL w/out nav and the Samsung A900 that I bought last week. So I immediately updated the firmware twice to the most current version (ZJ23). I then paired the phone with the TL and have been receiving/making calls the past week. My signal strength and battery life show in the console and I haven't experienced any of the problems such as phantom calling and/or the hangup problem so far; I'm crossing my fingers that they don't start...

ZJ23 is for the A900M new version. ZJ27 is new version for the A900 (older). I repaired it...same old same old...no battery life, sig strength, and same old problems. Sounds like they gave up on the older A900.
2004TL non-nav.

Well.........Ok I did finally get it to pair up, but with the A900 and ZJ27 there is no change, no battery/signal strength indicated and still cannot hang up an open call.
why would this only be working for the A900M, suposedly that is just a software upgrade difference between the two phones. I wonder if i could get a sprint technician to push the ZJ23 onto my A900?
