speaker measurements in 05' TL

I'm looking to by some aftermarket speakers for my car. Just wondering if anyone knew the best way to get the sizes for the stock ones. I would prefer not to custom fit aftermarket speakers but I might have to depending on the sizes. I am looking to get some Infinity speakers preferably but if anyone has any ideas let me know please. Thanks

Doors and deck are 6.5". Infinity Kappas are a direct bolt in, no modifications necessary other than the wiring.

You can fit 6.5" in the doors without cup modification? The JLs were too deep to direct fit and I chopped my cups up a lot and was basically left with spacers/adapters.

Polk DB651s

Polk DB651s 6.5" is also a direct bolt on for the doors. If you order from Crutchfield, they will also include an adapter for them to fit in the rear deck.

The center is very easy to get to. You just have to be very gentle but you can pry up the grill. The speaker is screwed onto the bottom of that plastic grill.

The tweeters come out the same way BUT, you can't easily replace the speaker. That is why I cut out the tweeter grill (go Dremel!) and mounted my tweets into the grill from the top.

Aren't the door speakers and the rear deck speakers exactly the same?

good luck on putting 6.5's in the doors without modification.

Maybe the JLs are just that much bigger but no chance in hell it woul just slip right in. The factory plastic mounting ring is a direct bolt up though

I also had some JLs laying around that I tried with no luck. Infinity 6.5" bolt right in with no mods.

The JLs and, I hear, the Polks are a bit wider and deeper than the the plastc cup will allow for direct fitment... Heck, where's the fun n easy and quick bolt-in? LOL

I thought our cars are 6.25" doors/rear deck, oh well...

Anyway I have 6.5 midbass in the door and i had to cut metal to make the hole bigger, even though I have spacers.

CDT Audio has 6.25" component sets that you should look into.

Here is pic of the stock speaker. The front and rear is the same size. It is roughly 6.25" for the mounting ring. Mounting depth is about 2.25".
FYI, it is 2 ohm, 20 Watt
