Small video of the 9500i in action...

I was driving home from Durham, NC today (220 miles). As some of you know the new Escort 9500i has the technology to tell you a mile ahead of time where the speed traps are so you are well informed prior to coming over the hill or around the bend. Here is a crappy video I took today showing that feature. It's hard to see the display but you get the idea. Nothing special, just thought I would share it with whoever is planning to get one of these. That feature is worth more to me than anything. It works sweet!

Been using this for two weeks, about 2000 miles of hwy use and yes it works awesome. Can't believe I didn't get this when it came out. Anyway, I came over a hill today and a cop in a Dodge Charger was sitting pretty. I was warned way before from the radar. I marked the spot and it is stored in the memory for future drives. He pulled out in front of me and he ended up squeezing in front of me and pulled the Escalade over. I wish I had gotten video of that but he was to close and I didn't need to get pulled over for being a dumbass with the camera in my hand while driving. Anyone that lives in this state or SC know's that the cops don't mess around. 10 over and you are getting pulled.

Those things can save people so much money! Even though it is kinda expensive to buy one of those it is worth it considering how much money they can save you on tickets. Nice video.

Nice video. That feature seems to be great. However, the 9500 is $$$ and too bad not all of us can afford one. A GB on this would be amazing!

How do you rate it against the V1?

Nice video. In the recent issue of Road & Track magazine, the ad for the 9500 is offering a credit for trade-ins on old detectors. I wonder how much they'd give me for my old Solo.

its $80 for a new escort model trade in, $50 for an older model escort, and $30 for another brand.

Can't really rate it since I never had a V1 to begin with. I know the V1 has the patent on the arrows but if Escort could do something like that, they would have the market hands down. I can't say enough good things about it. The local police in my area setup those radar signs in my town to let you know your speed. This thing detects this way before I get to it. Unless they hit you with the trigger, it's going to be tough for me to get a ticket.

not sure, but i would assume so. they sell a few different styles of cords but they fit all their current models. the only ones they wont fit are the earlier models that use the circle style power outlet. but there is a cord that will convert the circle plug to the phone style plug.

It will work. When I got the cord from Escort it had the 8500 as the model and not the 9500i. I guess they haven't updated there paperwork yet.

I got the 9500i just before Christmas (as a gift to myself - because I knew my wife wouldn't pay for one!)... it's awesome.

I had the V1, and it would be hard to say which one is better. The Valentine is a wicked detector, but so is the Escort. They both have very nice individual features.

The 9500i is a lot nicer to look at (I always thought the Valentine was a big bulky looking thing on my dash).

As far as determining which one detects better... I suspect you'll get arguments from both camps. I figured nobody could beat the reliability of a V1... until I got the 9500i.

Personally, from what I've noticed over the past month, it seems that one detects just as good as the other. They are both incredible units... but I prefer the Escort.

Just my 2 cents...

Yep, it uses the same cord as the 8500.
