I don't have a clue how this would work, but if I had one of the DVD conversion kits would it be possible to set up a sling box in my TL. Or would I have to set up a Carputer to do it?

 

I believe you would need a carputer, as the sling box needs to have internet connection to work. Plus what would you watch, you cant record tv shows on it, cuz you dont have a satellite or antenna in your car for television

 

Well if you were to have a cat puter you could set it up to run internet from your cell phone. I have a Moto Q which is CDMA(Sprint) so I can hook it up to the usb on the carputer port and run wifi thru it. Then run the sling box, tapping into my Directv Satelite box.

 

Slingbox would need to be attached to your home entertainment system.... to use it in your car you would need some sort of carputer and WiFi connection.

you could do this if you had some sort of input to your nav system. Like an RCA or S- video input. Then you could run from the slingbox, to your carputer thats conneted to the internet thru your phone, then to the Nav. I work for a high-end audio company and we have people trying to do things like this all the time. Your thinking outside the box which is awesome! It would definitely take some serious customization but I like your idea
