Silver Star Daytime Lights 08 Type S

Well.........what a PITA this project was!
I wanted to change out my Daytime Running Lights on my new Type S to a whiter & brighter bulb. After looking around at the different 9005 size bulbs available, I decided on the Silver Star bulbs. There was a Silver Star Ultra, but I didnt know if it was worth the extra $15-$20.
So.........I get home.........and pop the hood............and oh CRAP! How in the (you know what) am I gonna get to these bulbs!!!!????
The passengers side was ok (10 minutes), but the drivers side (PITA....30 min) was really tough........I ended up taking the battery OUT OF THE CAR!!!!
Anyways, after all that work I am happy with the results. The Running Lights ARE definately whiter & brighter vs stock 9005 bulbs...........but I think I should have just got the "Ultras" (little brighter & longer lasting) because I hope I dont have to do this again!!!!!

Now.........I am gonna do the Fog Lights next.........wish me luck!!

It hard to get ANY good color from the DRL's since they don't get full power. WIthout full power, the bulb does not illuminate to it's full intensity and correct color.

Fogs are pretty easy - go in through the wheel well after romoving the bottom 2 liner clips. There are instructions here and in the Owners Manual.

POST PICS!

I wish I can disable DRLs period without getting that warning alert.
DRLs are soooooooooooooooooooooooooo ugly.

I wish the LED option worked (w/out the use of transistors)

I am gonna do a "photo shoot" on Wednesday.
My CBP Type S just got the A-Spec Body Kit put on, and my new Falken FK-452 tires should be in.........hopefully on Wednesday.
After the tires go on...............I am going to take some pics.
I might do a before & after with the tires.
The Silver Stars DO shine brighter.......and a little more white vs stock. I think the "Cool Blue" bulbs would have looked better...........but aren't as bright vs Silver Stars.
MAybe the Silver Star ULTRA's would have neen better???? $49.99 a pair.........ouch.

OK.........OK...........OK!!!
Here you go:
The angle of the photo isn't that great...........so I will do another photo shoot from a different angle and post. They ARE BRIGHTER & WHITER vs stock, IMO.

**If I had to do it again........I would go with the Silver Star ULTRA or the MTEC Super White bulb or Cosmos Blue in the 9005 size.

HERE ARE SOME BETTER PICS......................TAKEN AT NIGHT.
These show a better "white" color and the "STAR" pattern against the garage.

I THINK THESE SILVER STARS DO LOOK BETTER VS. STOCK ONES. Definately alot BRIGHTER..................JUST LOOK AT GARAGE DOOR!
THE WHITE LIGHT is much better than the stocks YELLOWISH light, IMO.

Is it okay to use SilverStars on DRL since DRL will always be on? I remember I tried SilverStars just for my old Maxima headlights and those only lasts about 1-1.5 years. And now you're having it on all the time...but I also notice that it's a lower voltage so...confused...

I guess I will find out!! I am gonna keep my receipt, just in case these burn out quick. In fact, I was thinking of changing these out to the Silver Star ULTRAS this weekend. Not sure.

Vegas, wait awhile first. See if those things run out fast. I might be wrong because the DRL are at a lower voltage, 5V, and not the regular 12-14V. If it lasts, I might get it also.

I just upgraded the daytime running lights with no problems. When I went to replace the fog lamps with the 9006SU, they do not fit. The bulbs from the factory are Philips H8. Any ideas for an upgrade?

Silverstars are nice bulbs and give off a nice white light. My friends and I have also have had plenty experiences where these bulbs just burn out prematurely. Most of these coated bulbs just do.

I think you can get an even whiter/slight bluish effect with much cheaper bulbs with the more bluer coatings like Nokyas. Silverstar's coating is a much ligher blue/rainbow color. I think they will look much better than stock.
