Hi, I have 2007 TLs and just wondering is the FM audio louder and a little clearer than XM? when I switch from XM to FM or CD I always end up with lowering the volume a little since they are louder than XM.

It might be the compression used by XM on some stations. A number of posters have complained about worse frequency response on the XM stations.

It's the opposite on my XM stations, which sound just as loud as the Los Angeles FM stations if not louder, and the frequency response seems better on the XM stations.

 

I found that the XM volume was lower whenever I turned on the Dolby PL (ProLogic)II. The volume on XM seems to work better with it turned off.
