Angry Ron A..Need help with NAVI

I've searched and can't find anyone with the similar problem! I've just came back from Herb Connley Acura in Framingham to have the droning TSB done. After getting home, I played with the Navi, but it froze on me when I selected Address or any of the other options. Also, when making a voice command, I do not hear the computer's voice anymore, but the command happens. I've tried disconnecting the battery to reset and still it does not work. Is there another way to reset it?

Sorry, I don't have navi and can't offer any advice or assistance. Moving this thread to navi subforum, though.

Try forcing a reload off of the navi DVD.

1. Start the car normally (or put the key in and turn it so NAV turns on), and at the main navigation screen hold Map/Guide, Menu, and Cancel for 5 seconds.

2. Hit the "Version" button on the touch screen.

3. Hit the "Load Disc" button on the Version screen.

A new screen will appear saying the disc is loading. Once its done reloading, the navigation will reboot. Good luck!

Thanks datmrman, but I've tried that already. I'm not being paranoid or anything, but I bought an updated version a few months ago off of ebay and the date on it was 11/2005. However, I've just noticed that this one is dated 06/05. Why would a dealership switch the disc on me? Furthermore, I don't think this one belongs to the TL. The only comand it repeats back now is "hide ATM." It doesn't repeat "hide gas station" or anything else.
I have an appoinment on Friday. I'd like to see what they say.

The current one should be an orange DVD. Check out http://www.acuranavi.com to see if you have the latest DVD.

Should look like this:

Thanks. It is the orange disc and the newer 3.5 version. However, it is not the same date that remembered when I purchased it. Maybe the dvd is defective? Maybe the navi system is malfunctioning?

One more question. Is there a fuse for the Navi? I'd like to check to see if it is blown. I don't have access to the owner's mannual right now.

Update:
I found out what happened to my Navi. It appears that someone (a tech) from Herb Connley swaped my disc as I suspected. The disc which the "perpetrator" swapped was faulty. I was told it wouldn't have worked for that long and stopped working the day after leaving the dealership. The problem has been solved.
I'm sure this does not happen often, but I'm removing my disc when going to the dealership from now on!
This is a fine example of how much faith we should instill in the people that work at these dealerships!

Did they offer a reason why the DVD was touched while in for the droning fix?

It sure looks like some one knew that disk was bad. May be they swapped your DVD with another trying to see if the problem DVD would work in another reader.
Then they thought it worked in your car (poor testing) and didn't swap it back. I wonder where they DVD you now have came from. Is it yours? Or are they playing "Musical Chairs" with DVD?

Glade they made good before you had to escalate they problem. They would have been very embarressed.

Did the dealership explain why they were swapping your Navi disk when you brought the car in for the droning sound (heat shield)?

None what so ever! Never going there again, that's for sure!
The bright side is that the droning is 50% better now. It hasn't gone away completely but it's much better!

I'm guessing it might be the resale value of this disc on let's say Ebay?!

This also might be a suggestion for all of us to check our discs, especially if your auto gets serviced at a stealership.

Another option is to write your name with a Sharpie across the disk... Check it everytime you leave the dealer.....

^ Or use the VIN and mark the disk with symbol like ($, @, * or something) so you can quickly check the disk. At least your name will not be on the disk when you trade-in or sell the car one day.
