Returning My V710
Returning My V710
Well, I have had my V710 for about a week now. I am not impressed. I have always been a big fan of Motorola phones, but I have to say I am disappointed with this phone. It looks great but there are some design issues.
1) That battery life sucks. Maybe I have a bad battery or the Bluetooth is sucking the juice, but less than 36 hours on standby is bad. My old Samsung phone would last a week on standby. Also the battery icon showed all three bars up to the 33rd hour, and then it dropped like a rock.
2) The ear piece volume does not get loud enough.
3) The vibe is very weak.
4) The screen is getting marks on it from the key pad. I can clean the screen, and then close the phone and the screen is full of marks. One of them has become permanent.
5) And how the hell do you change the awful wallpaper on the external display?
Given all this, I think I will stay with my Samsung phone on Sprint.

Sorry to hear about all your problems.. I haven't had any battery problems with the phone as of yet.. I also never use the ear piece... And when I close the phone I can open it back up and everything looks fine.. No key prints.. You may want to try another V710 before you give up on it..
I do agree you should be able to change the wallpaper on the external display.

I last charged my phone when I picked it up Wednesday night. Even after an hour of calls, several of them in my TL with Bluetooth active, the battery meter (Menu -> Phone Info -> Battery Meter) still says "6", the maximum. Perhaps you have a bum battery, ray?
I need to pull the trigger on a BT phone quick! As of today, I think I’ll go with the V600, In my area it is "free" with rebate, I will be on the ATT network and I guess they are sharing cell sites with Cingular (how bad can that be?).
I’m currently on Sprint, but the one phone they offers is the T608, old be today’s standards, and plus it’s a candy bar phone, I much prefer a clam phone with no frills (camera, video).
Anyway I wanted the V710 (at $319 a pop, I need two phones by the way). but I don’t feel like waiting any longer. The V3 looks nice too, but in 2 years I’ll take a look at what’s available and make a decision then. All in all this phone thing is a bit much for me CMDA Vs. GSA 1900mhz vs 850, chips and dips and whatever.
Hope all goes well.
One questions, can the TL host to BT phones, I belive somewhere I read it can?
Thanks!

Yea I've had mine for over a week now and have not experienced any of those problems. My phone battery never seems to drop.. However I plug it in only when I'm in the car since I have a wire always ready to quickly plug it in from my glove box. I live 5 minutes from work. So I give it 10-15 minute charges each weekday around. I've never seen the battery life go down one bar. I was talking for an hour on it one night too.
I'd like to change the wall paper too on outside. Bet it's just hardcoded in the firmware.. Afterall mine says VerizonWireless... I'd rather it say Motorola as Verizon is already printing on the actual phone.
I think the vibe is very strong.. freaks me out when it vibrates sometimes.
I never use a ear piece as I simply either use my speaker phone or the bluetooth when I'm in the car.. I find myself rarely holding the phone to my ear now.
I hate things in my ear anyways and dealing with making it stay there!
