If you're running software firewall, like Norton, disable it. I can go all the way, if I wanted it.

Thanks for posting!

I just went through the order process. The site is moving VERY slowly, but I did complete the process and get my confirmation email.

I'm an existing customer doing an early upgrade. I'm waiting to see if Verizon properly activates the new phone with my old number and disables my old phone. I don't know how that works considering it's done by mail. I'm sure they won't deactivate my current phone before I receive the new one (right??).

Regards,

I ordered my V710 last night via the Verizon website too...worked okay for me. Has anyone received their phone yet? The email I received says normal delivery time is 2-5 business days, but just want to get an idea when to expect mine.

Lee: I didn't see anywhere on the site to suggest to Verizon that I was doing an upgrade. Are you sure you didn't just order a second phone for your account? I am only asking because I would like to do the same thing, but I bailed right before the end because it didn't look like it was a replacement.

By the way, the regular Verizonwireless.com website still doesn't have the phone. Is this link to a different part of Verizon?

You Ordered Another Account

Leeherman:

I did the same as you. I ordered the phone and then thought, oh-oh. Immediately the next morning I called Verizon to straighten the matter out. When you order via the internet you are adding another number and account to your existing bill. It was easily rectified. As soon as the phones are available for delivery, the 11th of August. it will be sent to me as an upgrade to my present account...no additions.

The customer service department was amazed that the internet Verizon was selling a phone which they did not have for sale, as of yet!

I didn't even think about the upgrade path and the fact that buying the V710 via the website would end up being a second phone on my account. Guess I should also call Verizon and straighten it out....thanks for the info!

Thank you!

I started doubting what I did about an hour after I placed the order. I called Verizon customer service and confirmed exactly what you said. Meanwhile, my confirmation number doesn't bring up anything when I check order status, and according to CS it's because orders are being held until 8/11.

I'll keep checking my order status 'til 8/11 and call back if I need to cancel and re-order.
By then I'll probably just go to a Verizon store.

I called Verizon this morning and they told me I couldn't use this path to upgrade my service/phone. Supposedly the "vswshop" website is third party and not plugged into Verizon itself, so I have to receive the V710 with a new number and then turn off my existing service/phone, or else cancel the order and wait until the V710 is available on the "verizonwireless" website. I'm supposed to call back later this afternoon with my order number, so knowing Verizon the answer will be different the second time around. Anyway, for obvious reasons I want to keep my existing number, unless the price for the standard opgrade path is higher priced than the current $249 2-yr agreement.

I was told by Verizon CS that you're much better off waiting until the 710s are available in the stores. There is already an on-line back order EXCEEDING 40,000!
