Removing Rear Seat...Almost Got It, But....

I've got an '08 TL Type S....i've got the bottom piece out and now I'm trying to take off the top piece. So far i've removed 4 bolts. The bolts on the outside and the 2 bolts towards the middle. The panel feels like its ready to release, but it's stuck at the top.

any help would be great.

thanks

Not sure if this is going to help because I have not tried to take the seat out yet nor have a looked at it but it might be hooked on top. Did you try lifting up on it? Just a suggestion

Did you remove the two bolts behind the headrests? I was reading and someone said there were a couple behind there...

There is one bolt behind each headrest.
remove the headrests and you will see a slot in the leather at the top of the backseat...there's a bolt in there
loosen it and lift the seat up to unhinge it from the bolt on each side.
Hope this helps...there's a scan from the service manual here: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-tires-wheels-suspension-97/how-remove-back-seats-put-suspension-3g-garage-f-070-a-567460/

I think you will have to remove the rear deck, but I'm not sure...when I have had to remove the deck it was to get to the suspension...try looking around in the 3G FAQ thread: Acura TL Community - FAQ for 3G TL Newbies.....

yeah you would have to remove the rear deck...

P.S. I hate how everyone describes the bolts on the top as behind the head rests it would make it easier for people to understand if you say they are below the headrests... Godizus gave a pretty good description.

Use a flat head screw driver and come at it from the side, slightly off the center. Stick the tip of the screw driver in and pry back until it starts to pop. Then move the screw driver to the other end on the same side and do the same thing. It's a piece of cake.

As for the hidden bolts behind the headrests, use a 6" extension bar and a 10mm socket on a ratchet. You don't have to take the screw all the way out - only about 6 full turns. Then push the seat back straight up toward the ceiling and pull out. It hangs on the bolt sort of like how a clock hangs on a nail.

For the clips I used a butter knife wrapped in a thin towel to pry them out...

A thin flat head will work just fine.
