Removing front center speaker.

I did a search and came up with little .. I want to pull the speaker to look for a rattle .. and all it says is pry ..

I ripped off all my nails .. used a small screwdriver and no luck .. I can get it up some but not all .. is there tabs or something?

I believe tabs are also referred to as sheet music for a guitar. Why would you have music stuffed in your dash?

Prolly the same reason you came up with such a helpful answer.

Yes, there are tabs which hold the center speaker grill in place. They're just like the tabs that hold in the dash/center console trim. Look for them on the 4 corners (I recently replaced my center speaker, but I don't remember where the tabs are, exactly ). But, as with all the other parts with tabs, once you find one and get it off, the rest are easy.

You're doing it the right way, I used a flathead screwdriver to do this as well. A butterknife might serve you better, since it's thinner/wider.

Hope this helps!

Just be careful with how much force you use. I removed mine but cracked one of the corners off. Luckily, it's like $30 shipped from Acureoemparts.com.

When I first got my car back in 2006. I tried to do the center speaker upgrade... and gave up, I could only get half the thing to pry but the other half wouldnt budge.

So I have a center speaker in box and I cant even upgrade it lol.

And the tight quarters by the window = no fun

I had a rattle on my oem sub,. I just went and shut it off thru the radio.
You can do the same thing without having to remove the speaker.. Go to the menu on the radio and turn the center speaker OFF ..... dude!.. no more rattles haha

^^^^ the rattles that you maybe hearing or comming from the metal clips that were dropped down.

there are four metal clips that hold the center grill. they seat on plastic tabs. once one distorts them by trying to remove the grill, they become loose and fall down.

I am not saying that is the cause for all the rattles up in the dash, but very good possibility.

+1 on mine here too! Besides the infamous headliner rattle and rear deck rattle, I'll also be attempting to pull the center speaker this weekend, along with installing moleskin to the day prior to my windows being tinted! Hope to hear some news on what it might be under there, hopefully it is just the clips working loose.
