If you haven't done so already, remember you can now sign up for free XM online access (as a give-back for the rate increase). Just go to their site to sign up. You'll need your ID #:

How can I find my Radio ID? I tried to do a search here, and see that we are supposed to be able to tune to channel zero, but my XM refuses to go to channel zero....not by voice, or by tuning with the knob. This is a new account, 2 weeks old. I just signed up for my $60/subscription for 1-year to avoid the higher rates, so I now know my account number, but the radio code is supposed to be only 8 digits, and my account # is 11 digits (plus a couple of "dashes"). Any help?

Jim

go to www.xmradio.com

then go to the bottom of the page and click on LISTENER CARE ...
then click on MANAGE ACCOUNT
enter your email address and password
then it'll give you your account info w/ radio id

OR

go to channel 1 in your car and you'll see your radio ID

Thanks...but I needed to call XM.

Thanks, PeterUbers. I tried that, but I can't get channel 1 on my radio either. (?) I couldn't get online hlp through Listener Care, because I didn't have a Radio Code to register, so I couldn't register.

I called XM at 1-800-929-2100, and the rep was bale to help find my radio code for me, so I was then able to register properly. I now have XM radio on my computer at home....so it was successful. I still need to call XM tech support though to find out why I can't tune my car XM to any station below channel 4.

I thought we'd get access to all the stations, but no MLB. Now I'll have to sit in my car listening to the radio all summer.

Oh whoops... you're right, it's channel 0.

Hey, does anyone know if we get 64kbps in the TL as well? It doesn't sound as good on my desktop computer as it does in my car (...seems more compressed...)

MLB is a copyright issue. Our local AM station that broadcasts the Nationals games cannot stream the broadcast online either. The reason is that MLB itself streams them online (for a fee) and thus won't allow the other broadcasters to compete with them--it's a specific carve-out when they license the broadcasting rights.

Quick question: Do you need to wait till the end of your 3 month trial before signing up for the $60 deal?

I'm far from thrilled with XM radio so far, but for $60 bucks I may give it an extended trial...

No. They tack the 12 months onto the end of the 3 months so you lose nothing getting the $60 deal early.

If you really want baseball via the Internet, go to mlb.com. It's only $14.95 for the entire season (including all games)

Anyone know how to stream XM from your home computer to your home stereo? It just doesn't sound as good on 3" Dell speakers.

that shud be fairly easy to setup.

Take the Line Out cable from the back of the computer (this is the same wire going to your speakers) If you would like to continue to use the computer speakers as well, just put a stereo splitter.

You'll need the following.
1. Output going to your Home Stereo.

2. Optional Splitter, to connect computer speaker as well as Home Stereo.
http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...5Fid=274%2D888

3. The wire that will run from your computer to Home Stereo, and connect on the back as AUX IN or what you may have.

I haven't bothered because so many of the games are at night, when I'm not sitting at a computer. I just counted and the Nationals play 15 weekday games during the day, so I guess at $1.00 per game that's not too bad.

Agreed... Although a new sound card and set of computer speakers could turn out some nice sound too... (Although for all I know, you have $5k of stereo equipment.) Just another option is all... Depends on whether you do other things on your PC as well that would benefit from new sound hardware.

Great advice, thanks.

Any recommendations on transmitting it wireless?
Someone suggested RCA RD900 Lyra or the RF Link wavecom; since my computer (XM) and my stereo are 2 rooms apart.

Too bad the only quality we can get is 64kits. Is this the same quality on our cars? I guess it sounds pretty close, but it's disappointing that it isn't higher.

Make sure you go to "Settings" and put it on high bandwidth.

I signed up, but it was a little disappointing. I could only get music channels plus a few kids channels. No baseball, CNN, or other good stuff.

It would be F'NG nice if we could actually watch a national's game on TV. I guess I'm going to have to shell out the cash for the DirecTV package. Tonight the only game on TV was the Orioles on Comcast SportsNet. The nationals win their first, and we can't even watch it on TV.

Thank you Mr. Angelos, I'm never going to your stadium again.

I listened to it on the radio, which I generally prefer to TV anyway because the commentators actually have to work, but on the whole I agree with you, it is annoying. Jack Evans was talking about it on WTOP this morning and called it bullshit; he almost squeezed in a "chickenshit" as well but managed to catch himself. He's right, it is absurd.

Guess what? MLB Extra Innings blocks Nats games from the D.C. area. They did just announce no blackouts for games shown through MLB.COM.

Just hooked up the RCA RD900 Lyra to my computer and stereo. Can now flawlessly stream anything (MP3's, DVDs, XM, etc.) that plays on my computr to the stereo. It sounds great.
