Rear Speakers Not Working. HELP!

I've researched threads and haven't found an answer yet.

I have a 2006 non-navi TL. I bought the car used. All of the speakers were blown and not working except the center channel and the stock sub. The previous owner installed a memphis 4 channel line output converter wired to a sony 4 channel amplifier in the trunk.

I replaced the front speakers, and they work great. The front tweeters weren't plugged in, so that was an easy fix. As previously mentioned, the center channel works.

I went to replace the rear speakers and the factory sub, and after I wired them up they didn't work. They both are getting little to no power, and sound muffled. The speakers are new, and I hooked them up to the front door to see if they work, and they do.

I double checked the positive and negative wiring on the speakers, and they were correct. Does anyone have any advice? I've been battling with this for weeks and am about to drive the car off a cliff, Thelma and Louise style.

The aftermarket amp is powering the rears. The connections from the factory amp are being run from the line output to the aftermarket amp.

As for what is powering the sub, I'm not sure. The line output has connections for a subwoofer, but RCA cable designated for the sub doesn't run anywhere, as there isn't an amp for the sub.

There are still some connections in the factory amp, but I'm not sure what they are.

Just for the sake of disclosure, I checked the fade on the HU.

personally I would bridge your amp all to the front components, do not even worry about rears or put them on the OEM amp . get a new single channel amp for a sub in a box or IB and be done.

Problem fixed.

I finally got fed up and took it to a car audio shop. They guy didn't give me an explanation as to what the problem was, he just said it was "fixed."

I would suggest that, if your paying, you should make a point of asking the tech exactly what the problem was and how he fixed it. Having them show you is even better.

Possibly, next year when it starts havin issues again you will perhaps be able to fix it.
