Radar Detector for 2006 Acura TL

Hi All,
I have 2006 Acura TL and I just got speeding ticket last week. :-( Since I got a nice powerful car, it's hard not to speed. I'm living in Georgia and radar detector is legal here. I went to circuit city yesterday and they told me that I can get free installation of radar detector (BELTRONICS VECTOR 995). There are two types of installation, once is Beltronics Direct Wire which will hide the wires and look the detector like customized installed and another one is cigaratte plugin. I'm interested in Direct Wire install way. Have any one try the Direct Wire install yet? One thing I worry is the Direct Wire will touch my car's electronics system and that may impact my manufacturer's warranty. Any suggestions? Appreciate if anyone can help me to make the install decision. Thank you!!

Piyo.

Lot's of people hardwire their detectors. In my opinion it's the only way to go. I don't like dealing or looking at cords in my car. It's not a big deal all their going to do is tap power from your fuse box or somewhere else. It's an easy 15min job if you know what you're doing. Don't worry about it.

Yea you'll wanna hard wire it bro. I had mine hardwired and it was so concealed even people riding in the car would know it was there until they heard it chirping when boogeys were around. They looked up next to the mirror and were like 'wtf is that' I'm like - ' thats ma boogey detector' I have one in the BM for sale. Escort 8500 x50 with the hardwire kit. .......

Hi All,
Thanks a lot for all the responses. I think I will go with DirectWire solution. It seems like an easy job because what we need to do is just power wire to one of the fuses in the drivers side fuse panel. However, Circuitcity people told me that they have to spend around 45 minutes for installation because they have to pull out DashBoard and Acura 2006 car is more complicated to deal with and blah blah blah.....is it true that it's complicated and it will take circuitcity people so long time? I'm not a car expert and I don't think I can do it by myself though.

Once again, thank you so much for all of your previous responses!!

The hardest part of the install was putting everything back together. Everything pops off easily, I just hate trying to put them back in properly. Thats just me though, other then that, the install was pretty simple and straightforward.

I hard wired mine into the Sun roof controls with out a problem. Maybe a 2 foot wire

For those people that have escort you can use a regular telephone cord instead of buying the hard wire kit and you can also match it to your interior.

Yeah I installed mine using an invisicord to my sunroof harness, keyed hot wire, goes on when I turn the car on, took 10 mins. I'll look around for a link.

OK, the long way:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...4&page=4&pp=25

the easy way:

https://acurazine.com/forums/car-talk-5/what-great-year-end-price-tl-s-need-help-asap-89682/

I used the easy with a cord from www.invisicord.com.

the second link shows exactly which wire to use, you don't have to cut or splice anything you just plug the end of the wire into the connector.

Sorry didn't check my email the last couple of days. Get the 16", it's plenty long enough, you can coil up the remainder under the panel.
