Questions for new stereo install

Hey guys,
So I have finally decided to work on the audio for my 07 tl-s and am looking for recommendations. I am wondering what type of battery I should go with. I have been considering Optima Yellow Top and Red Top and am not sure what to do. Also, what are your opinions on capacitors? Would i benefit from one if I have a good quality battery?

My system consists of:

- Subwoofer: JL 12" W6v2
- Amp: JL HD900/5

But, I am not sure of:

- Speakers: I am wondering what everyone recommends for a good component set for the front doors/dash and the rear deck, please advise me. I want some high end speakers in the front, with very good midbass and crisp highs.

-Wiring: Some people say any wire will do, but i personally believe in using good quality wires. Please suggest any brands you think will be good for me. I am going to need 4 awg wiring for power and ground.

Any input will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That's a good choice of amp and sub. I would recommend Stinger Wiring. Can be purchased here at good prices.

You'll need some of this too.

I not sure what your price range for speakers are but these alpines are nice. They are actually re-badged scanspeak speakers

You can also try Hybrid Audio Technology and Seas Lotus speakers. All of these will sound better if run in an active crossover configuration.

You may want a DSP Processor such as the Audison Bit-One or the JBL MS-8

Good Luck

I got a yellow top for my 08 TLs, not sure if I needed it, but I needed a new battery anyway.

Go to DIYMA.com to check out reviews of speakers. Ive never heard those speakers that were recommended, but have heard great things about them. For a more budget minded selection, the ID CTX comps are unbeatable.

If you heard the JL speakers and you like them then it looks like they're one for you. I would stay with JLs for the back, probably a set of JL Coaxials would be fine.

I've heard the Seas lotus and the Scanspeaks. They are amazing speakers. I haven't had a chance to listen to the ID CTX speakers but there is alot of good comments on them too.

I have a yellow top too. 4 years and no problems to report

If you like the speakers, then that works...The biggest factor for your SQ is going to be how you wire your amp and what processor you use.

I am going to be running a passive crossover set up, and am not sure what processor to use. Also, I am wondering where I should go for audio signals in the car. Before or after the factory amp? I definitely want to maintain full functionality of the handsfreelink, etc

and as for the seas, they need 110-140 watts of power. My hd900/5 will put out 100 rms. I def dont want to underpower them

nothing wrong with underpower

the speaker won't ever see a true 100 or 140 watts for a long period of time anyway

unless all you listen to is test tones

so as of now, i only installed my JL HD900/5 and my JL 12W6v2 and am going to hold off on the speakers. I ended up getting a good deal on JL Audio wiring as well so I went with that. Will post pics when I get a chance. Still gotta make myself a beauty board to cover the amp..
