Questions about Navi/DVD mod:

I might want to try to do a dvd player mod using DOM PnP unit. However, I have some questions about it:

1. I only see that there are two video input in the DOM unit. So how could I play the sound of DVD?

2. Where does the DOM unit get it's power from?

3. If I want my DVD player to be located in the trunk, what kind of wires do I need to draw to the front side?

Thanks!

its very simple. You will need an adapter for sound, such as The USA SPEC HON2Y or PIE X3.
2. Dom's unit can get power from numerous sources. The favorite here is to use fuse #32 with a Add- A - circuit part from auto zone (2 dollars). Another is to tap the cigeratte Lighter, but it involves a little more work.

3. For the dvd player, all you will need to run is the power wire from the front to the rear. But you will need to run the Video cablet o Dom's Unit and run the audio cables to the sound adapter.

Thanks csmeance. It seems very complicated...I have read the DIY posts, and I am still confused with the work. I think I might not be able to do the mod.

Some more question:

1. "use fuse #32 with a Add- A - circuit part" << what is this and how it works?

2. If I want my dvd/media player in the trunk, does that mean I need to pull the audio wires back to the trunk?

3. I am thinking of using the Mediagate MG-25P as my player. I know that the player need to draw power, so I probably need to put it in the center console. This means that all the audio wire and video wire would need to go to the center console, which would result in messy wires? In order not to have wires flowing around your car, i see that you need to drill some holes to your car (correct me if I am wrong). I want to keep my car as original as possible (no holes), is there any other possible solution?

Sorry for asking too many questions.

hold on dude, its very simple. The USA SPEC will mount in the center console near the radio, you will plug in audio wires here, thats it. You will have you Mediagate in the center console, tap the power from the center console for the Mediagate and plug audio cables into the USA SPEC. Take your video wire , run it under the carpet (center bump in the back) into the trunk into dom's unit.

here is a link to buy the add a circuit. What it does is take the original socket and make 2 fuse sockets, one for the factory stuff and the other for you additional stuff., but its kinda overpriced
http://www.amazon.com/Littelfuse-Add.../dp/B0009U64H4

This requires no holes and everything can be easily reverted to factory.

Study these threads from the 3G TL Audio & Electronics FAQ:Minus the backup camera, the instructions are the same for the install.

thevnct, please try a search and/or check out the FAQ.

Thanks! Everything is clear now! I think I may be able to do it now (hopefully). For the switch, I would like to do that as most of the people did: to put it into the blank beside the VSA switch (not using the DCC switch because I would not be able to make one, just a normal radio shack switch). That means I need to drill a hole here. Could I purchase the part back in case if I want to reverse the whole thing? I looked at acuraoemparts, and found that the part in the diagram of this page:

http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/..._SWITCH_ASSY.#

It's the part B-37-10, but I don't know where I could find this part in the page in order to purchase it. Any idea?

Thanks!
