Pricing of V710...

For what it's worth...

I just stopped by my local Verizon store and inquired about the V710. He told me the same information as mentioned on the board...blah blah... middle of August... blah blah...

He told me that Radio Shack has them now. Okay. So we all know that, but... the interesting thing is that he said that we could probably get them for cheaper at Radio Shack because their cost structure is different. Also, we should be able to get the same service promos/rebates/etc. that we would be able to get at Verizon. People mentioned that they are paying $319 (with contract renewal) at Radio Shack, but I wonder what the Verizon price will be. Does anyone know?

Verizon told me today the retail is $419 if you don't extend... guess you have to be within 2 months of expiration of contract before being able to upgrade.

Wait A Sec.....

Hold on, wait a sec. My two year contract just expired and I wanted to get the v710 and I thought that if i just wanted to extend my contract for another year the price would be $349.99 and that there was a $70 rebate and i'd getta $100 off toward a new phone with the new ever 2 year idea. so the final price would be $180.00 .....is that correct?

You would need to extend for two years to get the phone for 319 - 70 MIR- 100 new every 2 = 150. That's if my math works out right.

Edit: After reading another thread, your math works out for the 1 year contract. Now I wish I only went with the one year contract... the two year only saved me $30. Oh well.

Why is it that none of the salespeople that work for Verizon know anything about the avalability or pricing of the v710? I've stopped at three Verizon stores and I've heard the same "We won't know anything until we actually recieve them" crap. Wouldn't Verizon want to really market these phones instead of slip them into the line secretly? I cancelled my ATT service because I got fed up with their lousy service and have been waiting to sign up with Verizon until the 710 was available. I'm starting to wonder if I should just go with another service that already has Bluetooth

verizion stores do not have the phone yet and the company has not released any information yet. Radio Shack has them early. So if you want to deal with verizion directly your going to have to wait 2 weeks or so.

I have not used a Motorola phone for several years. Is there user interface any simpler than it used to be? I am currently with Sprint and have a Samsung phone that is very intuitive. Does any one know how tough the V710 will be to set up an use? My nephew is getting ready to sell his BMW after 7 months becuse the i drive is such a pain in the ass. I don't want an "i drive" phone.

I just got the V710 from Radio Shack. It is a very nice phone. Menu is just as easy to use as my current Sprint Samsung A500. My only complaint is that the volume on the ear piece does not get as loud as the Samsung did. If there is a lot a background noise, it is much hard to hear.

Still have not decided if I am going to keep the phone. Got 15 days to change my mind. I am giving up a lot on my Sprint plan to go to a more expensive plan with Verizon. My Sprint plan is $10 cheaper, plus has free text messaging, free internet, and 50 mintues of LD on my home phone.

Using the hands free is not bad, but if there is a lot of road noise in the car, the other party has problems hearing me. It just may not be worth it for the blue tooth.
