Pos/Neg Factory sub wire identification
+1 ^^
Yea thats what i did. I spliced into the factory sub wiring with Quick Splice connectors Left the factory sub unplugged. worked out 1000X better than the people saying removing the entire back seat, factory sub, and covering the hole where the factory sub used to sit, etc. Besides i like everything i do to be easily reversible.
Since the signal is after the factory Amp you'll need to turn down the signal on your LOC converter so the sound isn't distorted.

careful with quick splice connectors
they can weaken or damage one or both wires and loose contact due to oxidation or loss of mechanical pressure
harness plugs or solder are much more reliable long term

I want to put a audio system in my 05 TL in the most cost effective way and still keep my stock deck too. Does the way this post is explaining still need a amp or does it run off a stock one? I'm very new to this so sorry for the stupid questions but any help or advice will be much appreciated.
LOC is a Line out converter. I'm not a genius on this stuff either but you will still need a Aftermarket amp as I don't believe the stock amp will be strong enough to power your subs.
Can someone please let me know what I would need to put a system in my car and still keep my stock radio. Besides the obvious like a sub and amp. Can I use any of the exsisting wiring and does the stock radio act as an amp for the stock speakers or is it amped separate?
you need the usual aftermarket supplies. Power wire, RCA cables, remote turn on wire, etc. Since you are keeping to stock radio you will need a Line Out Converter so you have somewhere to plug your RCAs into. im pretty sure everyone cut into the wires from the factory subs. i think some cut into it before the stock Amp and some after. I chose to splice into it after the stock amp with Quick Splice connectors and just tune the signal on the LOC. some people have some reservations about using quick splice but ive never had any problems with them.
there shouldn't be any noise, not in the lows anyways
your volume controls will remain functional
you may want to run a remote gain control for the sub amp, make it easier to set gains from inside the cabin
