Playing DTS discs
Playing DTS discs
Hello all,
I have recently picked up the Genesis 1976-1982 SACD/DVD box set. Even though my the audio system in the TL is capable of playing DTS encoded discs, it is unable to read the DTS portion of the DVDs in the box set. Is there a relatively straightforward way of extracting the DTS 5.1 soundtrack from the DVD and burning it to either a CD or DVD that my player can read? I'm a Mac user and have been unable to find a solution.
Thanks!
Lee

I'm trying to figure out what distinguishes a DTS disc that the TL will play from one that won't play. When I out the DVD in the player (which has a DTS layer on it, but it has to be accessed from a menu on the TV), it spits it out, displaying DISC FORMAT.
Sorry if I'm not being clear. I've been googling this since last night, so I'm a little wired!
They are, in fact, DVD-Video discs. What I'd like to do is extract the DTS audio from them and burn them as DTS tracks on either a DVD-A or CD. That way I can enjoy the surround mixes in the car. I've found a couple possible solutions, but I'm on a Mac, and no one seems to know how to do it!

I have a program at home that I use. I'll update this thread tomorrow when I have the link to it.
But yes, essentially there are programs out there specifically designed to rip the audio tracks off DVD-Video discs.

DVD-Audio Extractor is a program I have used to rip audio tracks from DVD-A and DVD-V discs.

It is a pay program so use the free trial to rip most of what you need.

That might not help him, looks like DVDAE won't work on a Mac.
If you can rip the audio channels out into .WAV or aiff somehow, you can use a program like SurCode on a Mac to encode a DTS-CD, http://www.surcode.com/

My bad...didn't read the whole post that said he was using a Mac. I'm not at all familiar with Mac software so I can't be of much help. Virtual machine on the Mac with Windows, perhaps???
