Phone Says Roaming
Phone Says Roaming
I just got my 2004 TL and I noticed today that the indicator in the car says RM for Roam all the time, even though my phone is verizon and is never on roaming mode. Has anybody else had this problem? I just want to make sure I'm not going to get some crazy bill from my cell phone provider b/c the bluetooth is messing up the signal or something
I have seen that a feel times with my cell phone (unlocked Sony Ericsson S710a) and the '06 HFL. I've never seen any additional charges on my Cingular nor T-Mobile bills.
Its most likely a HFL vs phone thing. What phone are you using?

Verizon's CDMA network has known 'contract' agreements with other CDMA carrier's (Sprint/Alltel).
Verizon's CDMA may be using Sprint's/Alltel's network to make the call without technically "roaming".
I have noticed this with my Sprint Treo 700p. I have seen RM on my dash while my phone did NOT show roaming. In my area (the Gulf Coast), Sprint has an agreement with Alltel to share their network as certain Sprint coverage areas do not support EVDO data speed, yet Alltel does. So to offer EVDO, Sprint users 'roam' on Alltel's data network while on Sprint's calling network, thus showing RM on my dash while not on the phone.
I'm no technician but I do have a very close friend on the 'inside' of Sprint/Nextel who shares all the fun secrets (at least the one's us techno-dorks consider "fun") with me.
This may not be the answer to your question, but possibly an insight, as Sprint and Verizon both use CDMA technology.
If anyone with Cingular has the same issue, please speak up (as Cingular uses GSM technology) because I, respectfully, would like to know if I am incorrect
