PDX amplifiers ?

This is the situation. For a while now i had a system in my trunk which consists of two 12" G5 Boston Accoustics in a 5/8 mdf box each 1.2 cf firing directly into the cabin. I have two Kicker SX amplifiers, 900.4 and a 600.2. Now my dilema, I got to the point where i think its just to much and the biggest problem is the weight, now since i find myself listening to normal levels and looking just for a great sound i wanna downsize everything... im gonna put one G5 front firing trough arm-rest into the cabin in a sealed box and aswell sealed off from the trunk to avoid cancelations and magnify output.

so im thinking to put on pdx. 600.1 for the sub and maybe keep the sx.600.2 for the front stage and leave out the rear fill or maybe just feed it of the stock amp.

what do u think of pdx amplifires and am i gonna regret doing it, is one sub fully powerd enough to get decent output....

basically what do u guys think, i just needs some input from the experienced ones...

You won't be disappointed

The PDX is small, but packs a huge punch. Mine was actually rated at 675w RMS. It also runs much cooler than most other amps. It doesn't even have cooling fins.

Another great thing is the impedance. You will get 600+ watts with either a 2 or 4 ohm speaker. If your sub has a DVC then wire it for 2 ohms and you'll be set.

As far as I know, RodneyC77 and KingOfPain also use PDX amps.

Yes, I have the PDX-1.600 powering my TC Sounds TC-1000 (now Audio Pulse) 10" sub. Lots of punch from this little amp. I also have the PDX-4.100 powering my CDTs. They get warm but never hot. Not like my old JL Audio amps, I could fire an egg on them. I think my birth sheet had a rating of 701 watts. I get very crisp and clean power from these little amps.

I originally had Zapco DC's amp and I sold them to gain back some trunk real estate. I love my PDX's, I don't see anything out right now that I would switch them up for!

225x4@2 ohm...

2 ohm is what killed it...you should sell both amps since they're 2 ohm and use the money to get a good amp that'll run at 4 ohms..

Actually according to that page, that is what Kicker rates them at. I didn't see his post state his amp was dead.

In any case, I'd dump both Kicker amps and get 2x PDX amps. They can be installed stacked (low heat output) and look sweet that way.

In my Prelude, I'm running a 1000.1 powering a JL W7-10 inch, and a 4.100 running a set of boston pro components. At full tilt, this setup will draw less than 60amps, or at least until my ears give up.

My point? Ummm, get the Alpines, they are on the second generation design, so they should be pretty refined at this point.

they are not dead, they are in perfect condition and sound great... and have a tons in power reserve... the only problem i have with them is they are to big and im focusing on losing some weight in my trunk as that has impacted the performance of my car gratly....

besides that i havents seen yet an amplifier this versatile...

im thinking of doing a setup similar to that guy with one W6 with a box front firing into the cabin and having the back of the box made out of plexi glass so u can see the mechenical structure of the sub, wich to me looked amazing and if done right should sound like that aswell....
