O.E.M. Acura remote car starter
O.E.M. Acura remote car starter
I saw a little leaflet at the stealership(dealership)
for them today ( they ar soooo sick too) and was wondering if anyone knows how much acura charges for it???
i need one for an 07 type S, the car on the leaflet was a 2009-2010 tl tho, so im not sure if they even make it for my car.
anyone know anything about them???
thanks in advance

I would like to hear about members who have done this also. I done a quick search on google and AZ (old threads) and found several members using their factory FOB after adding the remote start. Sounds like alot of work. There are good and bad feed back from the installs from what I read.
well i would never use the facory fob, since the one acura supplies has a liquid crystal screen on it, to tell you a bunch of stuff that the car is doing, it does so much stuff, i was amazed. if you use the factory fob, i think you are a moron, the one supplied is crazy nice.

When i was at my local dealer months ago i asked if it could be done for the 04-08 TL and they said absolutely not! However if it could be id love to add it as well!
Expensive tho to just get it and attempt to modify to work..

There's tons of aftermarket starters, which you all probably know. I was impressed by some of the Viper units. They can start your car from a mile away. Very cool if you park far away from your office.

There has to be a way to get this to work with earlier model tl's they have the same type of fob for hondas as well. I would like to see the PDF files of how this thing is wired up.
Yeah just like the dealer said that you can't add the oem navigation system in a non navi car right?

Id also like to see the wiring schematics for it.. hmm i am going to see if my pal that works at acura can get them to me!

Anyone know how much this starter costs?
not to sure as i havent asked yet, ask your dude when you try to get the wiring diagram, then post everything up here. thanks man!
so the factory acura remote start fob is a separate fob in addition to what you already carry?
i'm not 100% sure of the details into making your stock fob start your car but it would go something like this: getting the remote start unit, a tach signal, some relays, a bypass so you don't use the spare key. the remote start unit can be configured to start after it receives so many 'electric' signals from you i.e. hitting lock three times in a row, hitting lock unlock lock, etc.. you can set the combination, to the unit, and once the unit receives that button-press combination you set, the car will start, and the you can turn it off too.
however there is a certain wire you have to cut, some 'yellow' wire, that will allow you to open the trunk with your fob with the car started, and also stop the car from starting/ turning off if you had a passenger in the car (i.e. you're parked in a store) and they hit the lock/unlock combination inside the car.
i've been thinking about doing this, as i don't want a bulky remote, i want to get a TLs keyfob, however the draw back is the range would definitely suck.

Wrong. With appropriate doorlock interface modules, you don't lose memory setting activation. I have the Viper 5901 with the canmax400dei bypass/doorlock module and my memory settings work every time.
here is the manual to install it on the accord

http://www.handa-accessories.com/acc...emotestart.pdf
the module interfaces with the existing systems such has HVAC and igntion so it's going to be a bit hard to install on the TL without the harnesses already in place. Aftermarket systems that are 2-way are much better and cheaper!
When that time comes this is the route i'm going.

2-way operation and a small one button remote ftw.

someone call and ask if the accord one is interchangable with the tl type-s and regular tl.

i got an 04 tl and have installed 100's of remotestarts on all types of cars including my own. My brand of choice is compustar. i am running the latest remote start alarm brain with a one mile remote, data interface module (retains seat memory and such) and the new drone mobile (www.dronemobile.com esentualy limitless range, gps tranking and a few other things) week.. not to mention the remote IMO or very sleek. and for thos who don't want big clunky remote they have just released a one button small 1 way remote with one mile range ish (5000ft).. don't limit your self to inferior products just because they say acura on it. compustar dei and autopage are all top tier companys. install on our car is not that difficult if you have a good interface module, that will do lock unlock key by pass etc.

great self learning preloaded module.

The OEM option is nice because if you ever have any electrical issues, they can't even try to give you the line that they won't work on your electrical system becasue you have aftermarket wiring hooked up to your main harness (happened to me, long story)
HOWEVER
while I was sitting out there in the lot fighting with the service manager about my remote start system and how according to him, I should have gotten the OEM because only Acura knows the propper way to hook up a remote start, a '10 TSX starts up next to us, using their OEM remote start system that was just installed, and instead of the corner lights blinking to show that the car was running on remote start, the HID's were blinking. I turned to the service manager and said "so I should trust you guys when this customer is suerly going to have to be back in 6 weeks for a new HID system becasue you wired up his remote starter wrong?"
The service manager asks "What's wrong with the way we installed it?"
Enough said.

This would be great addition to my ride but too bad you have to push the clutch in to start mine hahah. Though i'm sure there is a way to bypass that portion of it but imagine my car was in gear and i remote start it ouch.
