not sure my center speaker is working

hey all -

i have an 06. i know the audio system supports dvd-a/dts cd's. i popped in a couple that i own and noticed i didn't hear anything coming out of my center speaker (i'm assuming that's the one in the center of the dash).

i played around with the audio settings and cranked up the center position all the way to the right ... still no sound. now i've never played multi-channel audio in a car before, so i wasn't sure if it was just me or if something is going on.

anybody have any ideas? is there some kind of test tone or diagnostic i can run?

thx!

ps: i can *definitely* hear front-to-back separation ....

I believe most of the voice command prompts/responses come from the center speaker.

If you have the demo cd that came with the car check it out theres a setup track I think its #21. I had the cd since I got the car and never listen to it, until the other day and man you can really hear how the audio system sounds..Check it out

With regular CDs it's very faint. I wasn't sure either until I started upgrading speakers. While I had the center out but still plugged in, I tried out a couple CDs with it right up to my ear and there's some sound but not that noticable. After replacing it with a two way Infinity, it's a little more pronounced. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just not supposed to do much with regular CDs or radio.

It's easy enough to pop out anyhow and listen up close if it's working

Go get some DVD-A or DTS discs right away and you will hear the difference. What a waste of the 5.1 system if you can hear its dynamics!!
