Exclamation Non navi to factory navi can it be done?

I just bought a 06 acura tl, great car. My car did not come with the Navi system i was wondering if u could put a factory navi in this car that did not come with navi. i can get a factory navi from a junk yard but the dealer is saying it can't be done. I know it can bc its just a few different components. Can some one plz confirm that it can be done and how. thank you very much.

Just want to ask relevant question: Can I modify center console to put non-acura navigation with dvd/cd player?

Thanks

Yes it can be done but requires a lot of work and $$$$$$. There are quite a few people who have done it. Do a search and you will find a lot of info on this. Here is a DIY to get you started ...

i did it, with martin (very famous here in acurazine) and it was so worth it. if you want it cheaper just try to get the part yourself even if he has to install it for you. i'll give you a tip, try to get the subdisplay, the screen, the navigation drive with cd. if you can get those part and pay martin to do it you my be able to get everything done for around $1000 or less. be prepare to pay him $500 for the harness alone. try to get has many parts i mention but let him do the installation, trust me is not a easy job to do. He can do it in 3 hours, it might take you 12 hours or even days and alot of research (he will charge you $100 or so for installation).

One last thing, alot of people would say that is worth it or not worth it. i thought i made the biggest mistake paying so much money for it and NOW i can actually say that i made the right decision and it was so worth it, you won't regret it after you do it.

ITS WORTH IT!! I made the DIY.. I am still very active in the forums.. so if you decide to do it yourself just post a question in the DIY thread.. and I.. or anyone else who has done the conversion.. will be able to help you..

Thinking back about the install.. it really isnt that bad.. if you have put a system in then you can do it.. it also allows you to do full car entertainment in your car AND add a reverse camera.. Definitely a good deal!! plus when you sell your car or trade it in, the value goes up..

Yes, It can be done. I'm doing the conversion right now. Look for 07-08 parts. They are updated technology.

Here is another thread that is really helpful: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/04-tl-acura-tl-non-navi-08-navi-conversion-739375/

Ask away with the questions. We are here to help.

Hey Guys this is my first post on Acurazine. I have been doing lost of research on the non-navi to navi conversion and I must say this site is awesome! I just ordered my 04-06 OEM Navi Kit from the infamous Martin and I'm waiting for my parts to arrive to attempt to install this my self.

Parts I have ordered in addition to the Complete Navi kit from Martin:
-USA Spec PA15-HON3 $127 ebay
-NavTool Video Converter for back-up Cam and extra video input $180 ebay
- Used Navi Trunk Liner(this covers Navi DVDin the trunk) from Honda Salvage $35

I'll update everyone once all parts arrive. I'll probably need some help with the Video Converter.

CarPC does make sense....but you won't be able to control the things in the car the way OEM navi allows. If Carpc would allow the same control of the car I would get it. I have also been thinking instead of a carpc a simple touch screen could be put in that location and pluged in to a netbook or laptop.

It can and has been done. But as others have mentioned, it's a lot of work.
