nokia firmware updates?
Hi,
I have the 6820 as well as the data cable for it. I was wondering if anyone knows how to get updated firmware for nokia phones. I checked there web site and, as expected, didn't find anything.
Here's my phones info:
v 3.92
04-02-04
rh-26
I bought mine in May of 2004 off of ebay unlocked because I was a cingular customer and at the time only AT&T sold it. I would think there might be a newer update since cingular is still selling the phone.

If you don't want to jump through hoops of fire to get update firmware, best thing to do is do an exchange via Cingular and they will give you a phone with the most recent firmware to my knowledge. Your other option is to call nokia and tell them your phone is acting up and request for an upgrade but that will take a lot more time.

Firmware 3.92 is the one I had prior to this one and there was no problem with that; my family all has the 3.92 firmware on their 6820s and also no problem.
When I get a voicemail, it gives me two options: Listen or Info - but I can't just hit the Listen button like I used to be able to. I have to hit the Options button first and then choose Listen or Info. Whenever I finish checking VM, the phone will receive a text message saying that there are 0 messages left over to check with the date, time, and phone number of my voicemail.
Do you know what the latest Nokia 6820b firmware is right now?

Do you have to pay anything for the exchange? I can't believe that the firmware u got a month ago is that old, I would think they just had a bunch of 6820s sitting around collecting dust with that firmware date.

I went through it 3 times too, each time trying to get one with newer firmware. This was done at the request of customer service - they insisted that I would get newer firmware with each subsequent phone. Liars
